I purchased my basement carpet from eFloor and they also installed the carpet. The work was completed about four years ago, and the product and labour have held-up. When the carpet was installed, they had to install some additional hardware (transition strips), which they readily purchased and installed. It was sometimes challenging to track down my contact at eFloor, but they do eventually return all calls.

This company seems to do everything possible to keep old, outdated equipment in your home. When I had a basement renovation, I had to move the water heater, and I quickly realized just how much I was paying to rent a water heater - pretty much the cost of a purchased water heater every year. When I dropped-off the rented water heater (they charged something like $80 for pick-up), they told me the water heater would be scrapped. Glad I was paying so much for a basically scrap unit.

Don't rent a water heater, esp. from Direct Energy.

Hi Mike,
When a water heater is removed from a customer’s home it is disposed. We do not refurbish old equipment or install previously used water heaters in a customer’s home.

I am very pleased with the work completed. The roofers took heir time to do it right, and installed all vents, etc, as discussed. The work was completed on time, and within the discussed cost. Richard was very helpful in educating us on roofing options, and guided us to make an informed choice.

I purchased my gas range at Faulkers no too long ago. Gord assisted us with the purchase, and was probably he most honest and straight forward salesperson I've ever encountered. He readily shared the brands we should avoid, and the features of little use, to lead us to make a sensible purchase. Gord was also honest about the extended warranty, and gave us a good deal on the 4 year extension. I would certainly revisit Faulkners should I need to make another appliance purchase.

I've used LB twice now to clean the water boiler for my furnace, as well as test for CO. I did a lot of calling around the first time I needed the work down, and LB was the only company who took the time to describe to me what I actually needed. Their pricing is also quite reasonable, and are very flexible with scheduling. I would not hesitate to use LB again.

Burkes was selected as the company to restore my basement post a flood. All in all I am very happy with the work. The crew took heir time to do it right, and if it wasn't right, they made it right. As their contractors specialize, some of the work outside the specialty could have been done better. In some cases communication suffered, in particular with the project manager.

Steve just completed the work for my bathroom renovation. As I would still like to receive warranty service, I only intend to present the facts. Steve was tasked with a Tub Removal/Replacement & Radiator Removal/Reinstall. When the tub was installed (typical tub/shower tub), the tub was not resting on the wood fastened to the wall that is meant to support the tub. Instead the tub was floating .5 inches above the wood. Also, only a single metal support was applied to the tub (three should have been installed). Thank goodness I have access to a handy family member who was able to remedy these problems, otherwise the tub could have collapsed on one side. The radiator removal was flawless; however, when the radiator was re-installed, both of the pipes that lead from the rad to the boiler leaked. The first pipe to leak leaked so much that the rusty water from within the rad leached into the natural granite tile and stained the tile. The water also seeped through the floor and stained the ceiling on the other side of floor. Steve returned to fix the leak, and it didn't leak again; however, about a week later the other pipe started to leak. Luckily this leak was much slower and didn't stain the tile, as we caught all water with cloths. Steve returned again to correct the second leak. The silver lining: the price was initially competitive, and was further improved post the unsatisfactory tub installation.

Select contractors with caution esp. based on online reviews. This company has a glowing reputation on HomeStars, but a company with such a reputation should not be completing work in the manner to which it was completed at my house. This was my first use of a contractor based exclusively on HomeStars reviews, and in the future I'll lean more on personal recommendations from friends, colleagues, etc.

You are entitled to your review, but please present all the facts from both the customer's side and the contractor's. you failed to mention that we had the courtesy to leave the bill open till completion of the job, which was supposed to only be a few weeks. After two and a half months of trying to contact and chase you down, we finally received an email saying we improperly installed the tub and you deserve a discounted price for the work. Although we feel the issue was minor and was not a support for the tub, but merely something to help level it, you decided to unnecessarily have a structural engineer fight your battle. We stand behind our work but you did not give us ability to due that. we were never contacted about the problem, let alone given the opportunity to fix it ourselves. You decided to complete the job, then try and negotiate us down to get your price.

DanMac plumbing was selected by the restorer who rebuilt my basement after a flood 4 years ago. DanMac did a great job then, and more importantly we have yet to experience any issues with their work. They replaced all of the previous owner DIY plumbing for the shower, vanity and bathroom, as well as installed the shower pan, toilet and vanity. At the same time I also used DanMac to install a new radiator, and again was very satisfied. My only reason for lowering the recommendation rating, is that I asked for a quote for my upstairs bathroom (for tub removal/replace and radiator removal/reinstall), and the quote came in twice as much as the other quotes I received. I was surprised at this, as they were quite reasonable with the additional work I added to the basement restoration.

Also receive a couple of quotes before selecting a contractor.

Thank you for your positive review of our company. Our goal is top quality workmanship at reasonable and competitive prices. As for the quote for the upstairs work being too high I can only ask that if this ever happens you call our office and go over the pricing to find out where the discrepancie is so we can resolve it.
