We replaced three sliders with awning windows and we are very pleased with our new windows. We obtained two quotes and chose Fortress as Steve who came to give us a quote was knowledgeable and patient in answering our questions while he was there and our follow up questions via email. He seemed like a straightforward and plain-speaking kind of guy. Dave who came to install the windows was friendly and professional, conscientious and persevering (when he ran into a couple of snags), and he did a good job on cleaning up afterwards.

When we decided to replace our old landing and steps, Marc was the obvious choice for contractor as he has done so much work in our neighbourhood over the years. Marc removed our old landing and steps, and installed a new landing and steps made with interlocking stone. He also installed rocks in our front garden and excavated the surrounding area for me while he was at it. Marc is very meticulous and takes pride in his work. He keeps the work site clean and tidy. He kept us up-to-date and consulted us along the way. We're so pleased with our beautiful new steps!

Andy Aluminum uses higher quality materials, work conscientiously, and take pride in their work. When I called with a problem, they came back the same week and they stayed until they resolved it. I am very pleased with their work.

Although the store has some tacky and ugly stuff, you can also find some great deals on good quality furniture. However, be careful if you use their delivery service. I bought a beautiful dining room table, but it was damaged by their delivery guys. There were two gouges in the table top which I did not see until after the delivery guys had left. (I was so excited by the delivery that I forgot to check it over before accepting delivery. Also I did not anticipate that they would be so careless to put deep gouges in it.) I called the store and left a message; the owner did call me back and agreed to give me a credit for $50.

Avonlea put in new kitchen (custom) cabinets, granite countertop, sink, rangehood and backsplash. The workmen were friendly and professional, knew what they were doing, showed up when they said they would, worked hard, and cleaned up afterwards. The price was as agreed, with no surprises along the way. We are very happy with our new kitchen.

Blue Circle were very professional, left the work site tidy at the end of each day, and cleaned up afterwards. The installation work was very nicely done. I was a little surprised at the number of chipped stones. While this makes for a worn and weathered look, if it's not the look you're going for, you should discuss beforehand.

Needed to replace one storm door and install a second. Doors not standard size, could not buy at Home Depot or Rona. Home Depot does not do custom installs. Job done by Encore; had one small problem, they came next day to fix it. Professional and pleasant to deal with.

Cinderfella responded quickly to our call for help due to a blocked chimney which had extinguished our gas. They came out the same day, which was a Saturday, and removed the blockage (a squirrel's nest and the pesky skirrel that had decided to make its home in our chimney). They came back to install a new chimney liner the next working day. They knew what they were doing and were pleasant and friendly to deal with. I would certainly use them again.

I hired Tropical for a small job, to fill my attic with cellulose insulation. I was pleased with their work and service as they were professional and efficient. They came on time, they took care to remove their shoes before they were asked, they worked quickly, and they cleaned up afterwards. I would certainly use them again.

The contractor was able to start the job within a reasonable amount of time but took 4 days instead of 2 days (per quote) to complete it. Overall the job appears to be nicely done but with one flaw - the new eavestroughs were set below the level of the old eavestroughs, leaving an ugly gap between the new eavestrough and the existing fascia at the front of the house. It took more than 6 weeks of calling to get them to come back and patch the gap.
