Our basement washroom sink was backing up, at least during the draining of the washing machine nearby. I did some online research and found there could be several reasons from the minor to the catastrophic, involving excavation and huge expense. So, I was pretty nervous waiting for the plumber to diagnose. I had used ExpressRooter a couple of years ago and was satisfied with the work, so called them again. Craig on the phone was friendly and helpful. The very next day Jason came to check out the problem. He was friendly, explaining everything, and quickly diagnosing the (partial?) blockage. He got right to work and fixed the problem, demonstrating to me three times that all was well again. At a reasonable cost, a huge weight was lifted off our shoulders. Service was prompt, personable, and clean. If need arises in the future, ExpressRooter will be the only plumbing company I will call. I couldn't be more satisfied with this firm and recommend them highly. Thank you.

We are about to have a new garage door replace our very old, very dodgy old one. Wanted to add an electric door opener and needed a receptacle added to the garage ceiling. Of the four companies who gave us a quote for the door, one of them recommended Rand for the electrical work. Shortly after, we had chosen the preferred contractor and, instead of doing my usual research, I simply went with Rand. Their representative came out pretty promptly and had a look at what was needed. After a couple of hiccups, we finally got a quote that seemed reasonable. Within days, their electrician arrived and did the work in good time. Drew was efficient, friendly, tidy, and I was impressed with his professionalism. Thanks so much, Drew!

We found Ductwise here on HomeStars and hired them to clean our long-neglected heating ducts last September. We were extremely happy with their service, the final results, and overall professionalism, so considered no one else when needing our dryer hose vacuumed. Phil came out promptly, did what had to be done and then went above and beyond for no extra charge. Thanks to his attention to detail, he checked the dryer vent hose and discovered it was badly installed years ago and had already sprung a small leak. Replaced it and leveled the dryer. Did I mention no extra charge? Highly recommend this company!

We had an unfortunate slow leak from the kitchen sink pipe on the main floor that seeped through the floor and to the ceiling in the basement recreation room. We got the leak repaired by a plumber (found on HomeStars) and then talked to Tony about fixing the damage. He was prompt to answer and came to assess the damage right away although very busy with other jobs. He squeezed us in as quickly as possible. He replaced the soaked and mouldy cupboard base under the sink, restored the damaged section of the ceiling below, treated it against mould, and repainted the entire rec room ceiling. We were impressed because he could have made it a bigger job by replacing several pieces of ceiling drywall, but swore it wasn't necessary. It all ended up looking good as new. Tony was friendly, honest, and did a great job. We're hoping to get him back for other jobs that need his expertise. Thanks, Tony! ("Before" pics attached.)

We had a slow leak from the kitchen sink pipe that unfortunately we didn't discover until the ceiling in the finished rec room below started staining and peeling away. (We don't go there often.) Found Express Rooter here on HomeStars the same evening, called and were able to get Vlad to replace the broken section the next day. The office was polite and prompt and Vlad was great. Not only did he do the repair well without a mess, but gave us some valuable advice about how to keep the drains clean. Will use again if necessary and recommend highly.

I discovered Fresh & Shiny last summer (2018) and was amazed at the job they did. We have used many cleaning services over the years, but all ended up being disappointing ... until Marlenis from Fresh & Shiny. I found Cool Flame on Home Stars when we needed our furnace cleaned. Dwayne returned my call promptly and Jeremy (?) did a great job, quick and clean. When I asked him to check out the humidifier that comes with the furnace, he found that it was not working at all and probably hadn't in years. The solenoid needed replacing. He got the part and it's been working well since. My husband and I have found this has made a big difference in how dry our skin is during the winter months and are grateful the problem was repaired. We used Cool Flame again for a small job a couple of months later and will call them again if needed. Great friendly service at a reasonable price.

Our first time having the pleasure of Ricardo doing some repairs and minor installations that we, as seniors, are no longer capable of. From the initial call, it was obvious that we were dealing with professional, pleasant people. Claudia was helpful and friendly on the phone, Ricardo showed up promptly for a look and to give us a quote, and then followed up exactly as he promised. The work was done quickly and efficiently. The pricing was very reasonable and we enjoyed his company. I'm thrilled with the results and recommend him highly. We used Fyfe's last year for a sudden leak to our roof and were impressed with the immediate response, quick fix, friendliness, and professionalism. When the awful windstorm this past May blew off a bunch of our 17 year-old shingles, Fyfe's was our preference. Our insurance company sent out their own contractors, who did the initial emergency patch, took the measurements for an entire new roof, and gave us a quote. Our insurer sent us a cheque to cover their guys' estimate. The rep said we could use whichever contractor we wanted and keep any remaining funds. So, without hesitation, we called Fyfe's and their quote was well below the insurance company's. Knowing we could trust them, we jumped at the chance to use Fyfe's again. Their commitment to keep us posted with any developments, do a great job on the roof, protect and clean up our property, and make sure we were satisfied was above and beyond our expectations. We had a sudden, unexpected roof leak overnight, coming into our bedroom. I consulted HomeStars for companies with good ratings. One company didn't do repairs, just replacements. The second wouldn't come to Ajax. Left voicemail with two others. Fyfe's called back almost immediately, arrived (in the pouring rain!) within an hour, and repaired several problems quickly and at a reasonable price. Mike was friendly, knowledgeable, and most importantly, honest. He told us the rest of the roof looked good and would probably last another 2-3 years -- when he could have talked us into a much bigger job. He has also arranged for us to get a free estimate about our attic insulation by someone else. Highly recommend Fyfe's Roofing! Prompt, courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. It's not easy to find a contractor (good or bad) in the spring or fall. We spent a couple of weeks not getting our calls returned, or being told that they were booked months ahead, or just not showing up for an estimate. So, we were very pleased that not only did Ollivierre Contracting come highly recommended, but arrived quickly to measure and discuss our requirements. Also prompt were the receipt of a reasonable price quote and a promise to do the job soon (a date within three weeks was agreed upon). All promises were kept, paperwork was professional, and Kari was polite and knowledgeable. The demolishing of the old fence was done efficiently, with everything cleaned up and disposed of. The construction of the new fence began the same day and finished two days later, as agreed upon. Kari, Carlos, and Zach were friendly, polite, and professional in every respect.
