I engaged Bluestone Construction to complete my front steps and driveway. This was on a referral from a neighbour, who had recently had similar work completed by this company. The initial contact last September was very positive. I met with the sales rep, who seemed very helpful. He worked through the design and we came to an agreement, for which I paid him $1,000 deposit to be the first job undertaken this Spring 2019, total cost was set at $20,000. I contacted him a number of times over the winter and then into Spring, waiting weeks for a reply and in some cases needing to contact him several times to get a response. To cut a long story short, I was bumped by another job, I was not told this and after several attempts to connect with the sales rep, I gave up. I then emailed him to let him know that I had decided to cancel the project. Almost immediately he responds to my emails. Funny how it works that way. He eventually accepted that I was not willing to proceed with his company and agreed to pay the deposit back. At no point did he accept that he had failed in communicating with me along the way. A month passed and I again had to reach out to him to ask for the deposit to be returned. Eventually he did return the money. I lamented this story to my neighbour who had originally recommended him and he told me that he was having the very same issues with this sales rep, who was ignoring his communication attempts. I would not recommend these guys if you are used to some kind of reasonable customer service and response time to questions. The work looks good but that isn't enough in my book. I was so dejected by this interaction, that I put the entire project on ice and spent the funds upgrading inside my home instead. My advise to Bluestone is that they should respond to customers in a timely manner and that means within 24 to 48 hours not weeks later and only after repeated reminders. Maybe the rep should hand over the sales roll to somebody in the company that has customer care at heart?
