We hired Avalon Granite to replace our kitchen counter and our bathroom counter, we were happy with their prices and the sales person was pretty quick to respond to questions, so decided to go out to see the actual pieces in person. The person I began speaking with didn't work on weekends (which is the only time we could make it out there) and the person we booked an appointment with was busy with other customers, so a third employee assisted us. He was nice, but didn’t know at all what had been previously discussed/quoted, he also didn’t know which pieces we were there to look at or where they were. In the end we figured it out and decided to buy both the kitchen counter and the bathroom counter. At that point, I told the person we were meeting with that we were doing a bathroom renovation in the future and so we would need the kitchen counter top installed separately from bathroom countertop. I asked at this time if it would be an issue and were told it was fine. Then we were told that someone would be by to measure the countertop soon.
The person who was suppose to measure the countertop cancelled the day of the appointment though and then we were told that it was because our job wasn't big enough to warrant him coming out to our home.
In the end someone did come to measure, but we were told at that time that they would only come on one day to install both (even though we weren't ready for the bathroom countertop and we had been quoted both pieces individually including installation and told when we asked at our appointment that it was ok) so we ended up just asking them to drop off the bathroom vanity top when the kitchen countertop was installed and we had our bathroom contractor install the vanity top. To be fair they did say that they would come back if we paid for the countertop in full when the kitchen countertop was installed, however, given the issues we had run into, we didn’t feel comfortable paying the amount in full without having the product.
The day the installers came went well, they did a good job on the kitchen countertop and we like the way the stone looks. However when it came time to pay the bill there was another mix up and we were told we owed a substantial sum more than what we had agreed to, luckily a call to our initial contact cleared it up pretty quickly, but it was just another bump in the road with this company.
I think that perhaps if you were spending a lot more than we did, that the customer service would be better, but I can only speak to the experience we had. We're happy with the final product, which is why I have given a rating of 6, but there were no seams and the job was fairly straight forward, so if we were to do it over, I would hire another company with better customer service and lose the headaches we encountered along the way.
