I recently bought a gift for a friend at Winners (some cute throw pillows with matching throw blanket that she had pointed out to me) - I knew she liked it, so I didn't keep the receipt. Well, as it turned out, her boyfriend bought her the same gift from a different Winners (which I wasn't expecting, because they're all a little different, and what you find at one isn't always available at others). Anyway, I figured that I'd just keep the pillows and blanket for me, but then someone mentioned that Winners has a pretty lenient return policy when it comes to exchanges... so I thought I'd try to return it. Well, to make a long story short, the staff there were extremely accommodating, and I was allowed to return the gift withOUT the receipt, in exchange for anything else I wanted in the store. I was in a bit of a hurry that day, so the cashier let me put the amount of the gift on a Winners gift card (which I thought was even nicer). She told me that they don't have a 'time limit' for these types of return/exhanges, as long as the item still has the tags on and has not been used. I have since returned to Winners and bought a lovely artificial plant for myself with the gift card. It wasn't at all hard to find something for me there... they have an awesome selection at incredible prices!

I have always loved the Bombay Company (for their top-of-the-line merchandise) – this has been a place where I have ‘splurged’ for myself a few times, and have wished that I could afford on an ‘everyday’ basis. The quality of furniture and accessories here is truly premium. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for the best of the best! I also recently discovered excellent news - Bombay has an outlet store at the Dixie Outlet Mall (in Mississauga) that truly has awesome deals on ‘last season’ items (or those with which their stores are overstocked). Here you’ll find everything from pieces of furniture (including tables, beds, dressers) to artwork and frames, to lamps and mirrors, to miscellaneous items like vases, clocks, chess sets, home decorations, etc. This place is perfect for adding décor to your own home as well as for finding that ‘perfect’ gift. I have bought a number of things there already, and intend to do much of Christmas shopping at this store. The staff are quite friendly as well, and willing to answer any questions you might have. This place definitely deserves the highest rating I can give!
I work across the street from Terra in Milton - I walk over there at least once a week in the summertime (the parking lot is always full of cars - it's popular!) to look for plants for my garden - they have the best selection I have ever seen, and very knowledgeable staff. They always have good deals toward the end of the summer as well. Anyway, I never really thought to go over there in the Fall/Winter before, but recently I wandered over there in pursuit of a potted plant for a Christmas gift. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the whole place is still full of awesome stuff - lovely looking artificial and indoor plants, a ton of ceramic pots and vases, as well as a variety of home decor. The prices aren't too bad - a little on the 'higher end', but I'd say the quality matches the prices nicely. I ended up buying 2 ceramic pots - one for my friend and one for myself. I asked at the checkout if they are busy year-round, and the cashier assured me that they are always busy and constantly getting new things in stock - I think I'll probably be making weekly Winter trips there now as well!
I was recently browsing at BouClair, looking for some new ‘accessories’ for my home, and was rather impressed with both the quality and selection. The have very nice ‘accents’ for the home, including furniture (like coffee tables and end tables), window dressings (blinds and drapes), and other decorating accessories like area rugs and picture frames. Lots of the pieces are unique and very tasteful. I ended up buying a few Christmas gifts here (they even have a Christmas ‘collection’), which I will feel very good about giving to my friends. I found the staff to be helpful and friendly, without being overbearing. I will definitely return, as well as recommend BouClair to others.
I have used Bathtub King twice now (in my current home and my last one) - I moved into my new place knowing that I would give them a call to refinish the bathtub, because it was old and yellow-looking, and I remembered what I great job Bathtub King had done on my last tub. They did not let me down this time either. The guy that came to refinish the tub was extremely friendly and professional - he let me know exactly what he was going to do, how long it would take, what it would look like when complete, etc. - and everything he told me was true. The entire process took about 4 hours, and when it was done, the bathtub was the nicest-looking thing in the house - glossy and sparkling white with perfect finish around the edges. My bathroom was left exactly how it had been when he arrived (i.e., not messy). As well, I was left with an 'instruction sheet' for my new bathtub, outlining how to properly care for it, which products to use (and not use) when cleaning, and who to contact if there were any problems. The price was completely competitive with other places, and was true to the estimate. I would recommend Bathtub King to anyone who is thinking about refinishing their bathroom tub(s)!
