Our desktop was a mess. We’d used another company to fix a few issues at their onsite location, only to have new ones crop up when we got home. We called Eli at “I Fix Laptops and Desktop Computers” in desperation. Eli was friendly, polite, patient and knowledgeable. He scheduled a home visit with Andrew, who is simply the best — patient, smart, focused. We were up and running within the hour and we are so grateful. We needed our ducts cleaned this year. I read the reviews on HomeStars and called Dave's Duct Cleaning. The guys who cleaned our ducts showed up promptly, explained everything they were going to do, asked us if we had any questions and then got right down to work. The results were excellent. They showed us "before" and "after" shots of our vents and we could feel the difference in the air in the house when they were done. We highly recommend Dave's Duct Cleaning and definitely plan to use their services again.

We recently decided to replace our computer with a desktop and three monitors. We went to a well-known company for our needs -- only to be told they would need to order the desktop and monitors and it would take three weeks at least for their setup staff to come in and set it up for us at a significant additional cost. In desperation, we turned to Homestars and found Peter at PC Service On Site. He is smart, knowledgeable, affable, trustworthy and just an all-around amazing person. He got us an incredibly competitive quote and installation the next day. He also helped us upgrade our entertainment system. Our new system is flawless -- and we couldn't be happier. We can't say enough good things about Peter and we are devoted and loyal customers for life. I've been an Alarmforce customer for about 16 years. Last fall, I upgraded our security system to include two security cameras and hear and freeze protection. Three months later I had to call them to remind them one of the cameras hadn't been installed. They sent a technician over. He was three hours late and spent four hours drilling a hole in the wall to install the camera near the front door. Four hours later, he still couldn't get it to work. He patched up the hole from the outside using plastic -- I kid you not -- and left the hole in the bedroom wall untouched. The next day, I called Alarmforce and they said they would send a manager at 1 pm to fix the camera properly. As of 3 pm, the manager never showed up. We decided to cancel our contract with Alarmforce. Their reliability and customer service skills are pathetic -- and we have no doubt these "skills" will continue to cost them a lot of customers, and rightly so.

Maple Windows and Eves Cleaning is an excellent company. They responded to my call for an evestrough cleaning quickly and called me back to let me know when the company arrived. They did a thorogh job and gave my husband an update during and after the cleaning. They also sealed two of our eavestrough corners to prevent leaks that were happening. We plan to hit them again next year to do both window cleaning and evestroughs -- thanks Maple Window and Eves Cleaning!

We've used a different garage door company before. This time we decided to try Dodds. We've heard their advertising and seen their good reviews. Dodds called to schedule an appointment quickly and they were at our front door within a day. They got us the garage door key fobs we wanted -- and were honest enough to tell us our garage door entry pad worked just fine by adjusting the difficult battery case door instead of just telling us we should get a new one. That saved us money and we appreciate their honesty. We would recommend them to anyone who needs fast, efficient and honest service -- and we will definitely use them again. Thank you, Dodds.

I found Drain Works on Home Stars. This company is fantastic. I use them for any plumbing jobs I need done and recently had them install a backwater valve to help insure against flooding in the basement. They are courteous, timely, extremely efficient and get the job done right -- every time. I will not use anyone else. If you're looking for an awesome plumber, try Drain Works -- you will be amazed!

Dave at DMS is AMAZING. We are so fortunate to have found him -- he is smart, hardworking, unscrupulously honest and incredibly reliable and a total gem. I highly, highly recommend Drainworks for any plumbing work you need done. I've noticed there are a lot of plumbers out there who charge a fortune and don't deliver -- it's so incredibly frustrating. Since finding Drainworks, I wont use any other company. Recently, we had a clogged toilet. Matt from Drainworks arrived within a half hour of my call on a Friday evening. He was pleasant, took time to explain stuff in plain language, and doggedly located the problem and fixed the clog -- and then went above and beyond to negotiate an extremely reasonable price given the amount of time and energy he spent on the job. Trust me, if you want a seriously great plumber, call Matt at Homestars -- and don't waste your time or money on any other plumbing company. Drainworks, you guys are amazing -- thank you.

I had cement ants boring their way through the ceiling in our basement. I really didn't know who to call -- so I went through HomeStars website and read the reviews for pest control companies. I decided to call Pesticon and within a couple of hours on the same day, Waheed showed up and went to work. He charged $200, which was incredibly reasonable. A few months later, I saw cement ants outside the home and panicked. I called Waheed again. He arrived promptly, and even though this problem didn't seem directly related to the first incident, fixed the problem and didn't charge me a dime. He is simply awesome -- and I know I won't be going anywhere else if I need help in the future, and I wouldn't hestitate to recommend him extremely highly to anyone who needs help getting rid of pests. In this day and age, it's amazing to have someone who is incredibly prompt, friendly, takes the time to explain what the problem is and how he'll fix it, offers a guarantee (and seriously means it) and returns if you have a problem with absolutely no excuses, a fantastic service ethic and no bullshit. A perfect score for this gentleman -- absolutely worth every penny.

We've used about 5 different plumbing companies for various small plumbing issues since moving into our home in Bayview Village in 2001. Each experience made us extremely leery about dealing with this profession. It seemed once each of the plumbing companies got their hands on the deposit, they would take care of larger more profitable work elsewhere before returning later to complete our jobs. Or they'd offer to do other work for you "on the side" and in "cash only". We needed to get our storm line upgraded to reduce the possibility of flooding, and didn't know where to turn. We noticed Drainworks was used frequently in our neighbourhood and called them for an estimate. What an incredible difference. Armando, our service guy, was efficient, knowledgeable, honest and patient -- and got the job done quickly and did it extremely well. We are totally impressed and would recommend this company to our neighbours, friends, colleagues -- it's incredibly reassuring to know that when you have a problem with your plumbing you can turn to a company that is reliable, pleasant to deal with, efficient, really competent and can get the job done well and fast.
