We hired the Home Improvement People to refinish our basement after reading the excellent reviews on HomeStars. Haydee at the office was able to easily book an estimate of our project. She always got back to us very quickly and then expertly coordinated our payments and our numerous add-ons throughout the project. We were impressed by the prompt visit to our home by Chris who evaluated our project and gave us a complete, detailed and very reasonable estimate. He made excellent suggestions to make our basement safer and brighter. Elia then introduced us to Lino Senior and Lino Junior who worked tirelessly on our basement for 4 weeks in June-July 2019. They were always most respectful, courteous and professional in their management and execution of all the tasks of refinishing our big basement. They tidied up after each day and contained all the dust. Lino Senior coordinated flawlessly with the other trades that came to work and made sure that the materials were on site ready for the following day’s work. Lino Junior was a super hard worker, extremely polite, kind and always in great spirits. He went above and beyond to assure great workmanship. They make a fabulous team! Our finished basement is now a warm, clean, top-quality space that adds bright and comfortable square footage to our home. Our most sincere thanks to Lino and Lino! My husband and I had the great pleasure of working with Sara Cavaco on 2 projects over the course of 2 years. We were very impressed by her experience and the way she listened closely to our ideas and requests. Sara was always able to answer all our questions in a very complete and timely manner – mostly with 2 hours. She is excellent at providing suggestions for planning spaces and for selecting the best materials. She presented great design ideas and recommended stores to explore and then choose high quality finishes. We relied on her expert advice for a total kitchen, master bathroom and general first floor renovation. Towards the end of our project, we also engaged Sara for a colour consultation so that our renovation had a cohesive colour palate. We highly recommend Sara for design, decorating and colour consultations.

We researched several furniture refinishing companies and found Woodspecialties with multiple rave reviews. We met Jeff who came to our home to talk about the process and estimate. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, and responded immediately to our subsequent emails. We were so confident in Jeff and his company and pleased with the estimate that we gave him a total of 22 pieces of solid blond oak furniture to stain in a dark walnut colour. The work was done in a VERY impressive timeframe of 6 weeks. We were invited to the shop to pick out the stain colour, later to check that the finish was to our liking, and then to check all our pieces for our final complete satisfaction. Jeff and his team work extremely well together with true respect for one another and a great collaboration which creates an atmosphere of total professionalism which we really appreciated each time we visited. This made us feel at ease while we left all this work for Woodspecialties to accomplish. We cannot say how much we are EXTREMELY PLEASED with our refinished furniture which was returned to us repaired, perfectly smoothly finished and just like brand new!!! MUCH, MUCH better than buying new!!! We WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend Jeff and Woodspecialties for any refinishing project you may have. We wish we had done this sooner!!! We are so pleased that we are now going to ask Woodspecialties to refinish other pieces we have.
