I noticed the shingles on my house looking very worn. I could only see them out one window--it was not possible to look closely any where else on the roof without climbing up there. I called Paul at Red Dog Roofing and asked him to have a look. He told me that the roof was in not great shape and should be replaced. I should mention that I called a few other roofers and was only able to get any answers for Paul. We booked a date for the repair and he showed up with his team. They were quick and efficient. Paul was very pleasant and made sure all our questions were answered. We were very happy with Paul and his team's work. They thoroughly cleaned up all the mess.

It was the day after Christmas and all through the house, the temperature was freezing! My furnace stopped working. Of course, I didn't figure this out until it was already late at night. I looked up some contractors on Homestars who had 24/7 written on their profiles. Max was the only one who picked up the phone. He came early the next morning as promised, assessed the problem and went to get a new blower fan. It turned out, later that there were more problems with this old furnace than the blower fan. It wasn't worth fixing everything so Max suggested a new furnace. He brought it the next day and had it working. It was so nice to have the heat working again and the new furnace was so much better and more efficient than the old one. I would recommend Max from AIRE MAX because he is reliable, arrives on time and gets the job done the right way. Plus, his fees are very reasonable. If you're trying to decide who to hire, don't hesitate to call Max. He is very knowledgeable and can advise you on the best way to solve your heating/cooling problems.

I had a problem with my eavestroughs. Water leaked over the sides of them in two places. I knew the eavestroughs didn't require a major overhaul, probably just a cleaning and maybe adjusting them so they'd be closer to the roof. I didn't feel it was necessary to spend $350 to fix this problem so after reviewing this company, I gave them a try. Their prices were a lot cheaper. I arranged for them to come and they didn't show up the first time so I called them and arranged for them to come the next week. They showed up the next week and took care of the eavestrough problems. I had e-mailed them and told them specifically where there were problems and after a couple of good rains, there have been no further problems. Summary: did what I asked, just took a bit longer to get there. Otherwise, quick and easy.

My garage door opener broke and after calling several companies, I realized that there weren't any replacement parts--that particular company had gone out of business. I checked on HomeStars and saw that Markham Garage Doors Ltd got a lot of good reviews. And the reviews were right! Mark brought a new garage door opener, took down the old broken one and had the new one installed and working in no time. He also examined my garage door itself and told me about its condition. He took the time to answer my questions, he was polite and very professional. I would recommend Markham Garage Doors to anyone. They know what they're doing and do a good job.

Paul called ahead to say when he would be arriving. He was very courteous, explaining everything that he was going to do. Not only did he clean the ducts, he also examined the furnace and gave some tips and advice on how best to maintain it. The duct cleaning was very loud so Paul gave us some earplugs. We decided to go out and left him to do his work. He was very thorough and put back everything the way it was (except for all the dust from our ducts which, of course). We recommend CAPPS ducts cleaning. They're honest, reliable, trustworthy and do a great job.

We've had some unpleasant experiences with contractors in the past but David proved that a renovation job could get done on time, on budget and with a smile. David responded to our request for quotation promptly and professionally. We wanted to have our kitchen backsplash done and he provided sound advice and let us know what we needed to have the job done. We booked a date for him to do the installation and he showed up on time with all the necessary tools. David was very patient with our requests. We weren't sure exactly how we wanted the backsplash to look and he readily offered suggestions and made changes as they came up. We wanted to do a special mosaic pattern behind our stove and he figured something out using the pieces that we had purchased. We didn't have to go out and buy anything extra. He finished the job according to the timeline that he proposed and to the price he estimated. In the past, we've encountered contractors who changed their prices and haggled their way through projects but David was so easy to work with and very pleasant too. He was very respectful.
