After a horrible experience with a contractor who pretended to know enough about plumbing (do not hire[cometitor's name removed -ed]), we were forced to correct his mistakes by digging up the new tiles in our bathroom floor, breaking through new tiles on the bathroom wall, cutting a hole in the bedroom walls, pulling up our new laminate floor and digging a hole in the concrete next to the washer/dryer. DrainWorks was definitely the right team for the job. First Chris walked through the apartment and assessed what work needed to be done. Next, a large crew of hardworking men (lead by the very personable Lou) arrived on time and split into teams to began excavating. Lou made a point of explaining the process, so we not only knew the extent of the work, but so we understood of what our new plumbing would consist. Lou made a rather stressful situation feel more comfortable by including and educating us. Each issue was corrected with attention paid to minimal destruction and an effort to restore the ground to a smooth level surface. After the major underground work was completed, Chris returned to fix all the accessible piping, drainage and venting. Chris was very knowledgeable, polite, hardworking and understanding. Lou even came back to inspect the job to ensure that all the work was done properly. Indeed, we feel much safer and relieved now that our plumbing in our 100+ year old home is functioning and safe. We would definitely recommend DrainWorks to anyone, friends or Homeworks readers.

After a horrible experience with a contractor who pretended to know enough about electrical work (do not hire Colin Kennedy, of Kennedy Renovations!), we were forced to tear down our new ceiling in our basement apartment and cut holes in our new walls, and completely rewire everything. We got a quote from three different electricians, and for the professionalism and products that Maple Leaf offered, we were surprised at the reasonable estimate for the work. Now that everything is finished, selecting Alex as our electrician was definitely the right choice. There were many problems to fix around the apartment, and Alex and Adolfo efficiently corrected the issues, and made everything to code. Every desire I had about the placement of a light or an outlet, he’d say “No problem” without a fuss. We really felt like he was working for us, and following our plans. Our original electrical panel was not only wired poorly, but it was in the bathroom. At first, Alex thought that moving the panel would require a junction box in the bathroom, but he was able to move the entire panel into the hallway and rewire it properly with no junction box, allowing us to have the full wall safely patched in the bathroom. There were also <gasp> nine junction boxes hidden in the ceiling from the original contractor, and Alex was able to remove/redirect all of them but two, for which we’ll install access panels. On the final day, after everything was almost completed, I even threw in a last minute request to install an extra light in the living room, and once again he said “No problem” and made it happen. Alex and Adolfo are hard-working guys with good attitudes, and we feel fortunate to have found them for our big job. He predicted he’d be done in a week, and he showed up on time every day and worked until his duties were completed. The ESA came as planned at the end of the week and certified his work. We’d definitely recommend Maple Leaf Electric to anyone, friends or Homestars readers.
