My tenant had reported water leaking from under the dishwasher. I called Man with a Wrench, based on their great HomeStars score. The woman I spoke with was very pleasant, articulate and efficient. She set up an appointment for the following day, during a 4 hour window. She told me the technician would be Alex, and that he would call 1/2 hour before his arrival to confirm the exact time. Alex came out to check the problem. As promised, he called to let me know when he would arrive. He was very professional in appearance and demeanour. He used shoes covers when he came into the unit. Alex took the bottom panel off and ran the dishwasher through its cycles 3 times to look for any leaks, and explained what he was doing. We discovered that it was not actually the dishwasher that was leaking, but that the kitchen sink hose had loosened and water had dripped backwards, under the cabinet, and then under the dishwasher, where it pooled out front. Alex had to charge for the visit, but let me know that if a problem develops with the dishwasher and we use MWW to fix it, the fee can be applied toward that call.

I hired Morrison Plumbing to install a reverse osmosis filter in a bathroom cabinet. Both Joshua and his installer were very pleasant and professional to deal with throughout the transaction. The installer was on time and efficient in completing this small project, and his work was good. I selected Morrison Plumbing based on its excellent HomeStars rating, and I was not disappointed!

My real estate agent recommended Huronia Locksmith in Collingwood to advise me and help with changing the locks on all the exterior doors of my rental property in Collingwood. I spoke with Roger, who recommended a coded entry for the main door and rekeying all of the doors to share a common key. This will simplify changing the locks whenever the tenants change. Roger himself came to do the work. He was efficient, tidy and very professional and pleasant. He demonstrated to the tenants and me how to use the coded entry, and helped us set our respective codes. I would definitely recommend this contractor for locksmith services.

Given that the delivery "service" contracted by IKEA consistently receives very bad reviews, you would think that IKEA would agree to refund the delivery charges when XPO fails to deliver. Somehow this sizeable delivery company cannot nail down a delivery time in a large city to less than a 12 hour window. Why does IKEA contract with them, instead of a competent company? Laziness? "Special arrangements" with the procurement person at IKEA? Who knows. Unless your time is worth nothing, and you have at least a whole day to waste, do NOT spend $99 + HST for delivery. You're better off wrestling the boxes into your car or $19.95 rental van and taking them home yourself.

I have long considered Watts Current to be a little gem of a lighting boutique. Julia, the store owner, has a wonderful range of fixtures in the store to provide inspiration, and she and her staff take great care to provide helpful advice on the selection of lighting solutions. For a kitchen renovation I did several years ago, Julia sourced the perfect chandelier for the casually elegant look I wanted. Earlier this year, she advised me on the selection of LED track lighting layout and components for my studio work area. Watts Current is one of my main go-to places for lighting.

I discovered Snob while searching online for a cowhide bench for my foyer. After learning that they custom make the benches (and much of their other furniture) I visited the showroom on Carlaw, where I was blown away by the amazing selection of unique furnishings and decor, as well as the variety of materials available on site to choose from. I chose a gorgeous black, brown and white spotted cow hide and stainless steel "X" base style for a 5 foot long bench. The bench took quite a long time to make, and there was a problem with the plywood used for the seat, but Denise addressed the problem right away and personally delivered the corrected bench to me. I'm looking forward to finding a need for another spectacular piece from Snob.

Polanski Moving was recommended to me by my real estate agent when I sold my house in Etobicoke to move to a condo in Toronto. They are very pleasant to deal with, offered very helpful advice and were punctual, professional, careful and courteous in every aspect of the move. Two furniture items proved especially challenging, but the men persevered and got the job done without any damage to either piece. When I subsequently contacted Tom Polanski about a smaller move to an out-of -town location, he recommended that we save money by having them only pack a rental truck at our end, and do the driving and unpacking ourselves. This was the best solution for the small move. I don't think you can find a better moving company in the city, at such a competitive price.

My new closet doors and organizers were just installed today, and I am delighted! I have more than enough room for all my clothes and my dressing room looks great. I have recommended this company to my sister, and I will be contacting them again myself to help me with my front hall closet and my son's bedroom closet. Maureen came to my home for a consultation, and quickly designed just the right closet solution for my needs. She gave great advice on closet door options to coordinate with some existing, old mirror doors, and provided a very competitive quote. She also followed up to ensure that the installation date was booked, after the person who does the bookings took a little longer than expected to contact me. Troy, the installer, arrived promptly on the appointed day, and was efficient and friendly. These folks are very pleasant to deal with, the products I purchased are attractive and very functional, and the pricing is reasonable.
