We got 3 quotes for the replacement of 8 windows in our house. Tyee's quote was FAR, FAR lower than the other 2 quotes we considered, so much so that we thought they must have an inferior product or amateur installation crew. I couldn't have been more wrong on both counts!!! From the samples we were shown, Tyee windows appeared comparable to the others on every level. The salesman, Gary , answered all the questions that we had, and assured us that they would be able to build and install the windows in a timely fashion, no more than 4 weeks. They were actually a week quicker than promised! The installation crew led by Larry, arrived on time, laid out protective mats throughout the house to protect the floor coverings, were very professional and installed all 8 windows very promptly, and cleaned up after themselves. But most importantly the installs look GREAT! The other 2 quotes we received were for over $7400 and $6300. Tyees quote came to just over $3200, taxes in. I would definitely recommend Tyee to friends and family.

The windows were installed very quickly and the fellows did a great job. Unfortunately there was a minor flaw with the biggest window but the company was good to come out and inspect it to get the ball rolling on replacement. The down side is the pane has been replaced twice now and needs replacing again.

Where’s the rest?? My husband had a consultation with Kathryn Haley Designs at our home to go over our Kitchen and Bath ideas. It was approx. 1.5 hours and seemed to go well with lots of questions asked and suggestions made. Kathryn was very pleasant and easy to talk to. A few days after our meeting Kathryn advised she was having trouble with our bath ideas so we told her not to worry about the bathroom. We wanted to keep our ideas and would figure it out ourselves. About 2 weeks later we received 2 sketches with perspective drawings (black and white) for the kitchen dropped through our mail slot followed by an email asking for any modifications. I emailed back a couple simple modifications. About a week later a second set of papers were dropped through our mail slot containing the modified sketch, a perspective drawing (black and white) and a sketch of teh lighting plan plus the invoice. I mailed off a cheque the next day and sent an email asking if there was more to come? My husband and I were surprised to find out that what we ended up with was a total of 7 pieces of paper and a few emails for close to $900. Was that it? The designs captured some of what we talked about but not everything. The process seemed a little disappointing and unprofessional due to the lack of real interaction between Kathryn and ourselves. I guess we were expecting a little more for the $95.00 per hour. I sent Kathryn a note advising her exactly what I mentioned here and sadly there has been no response. I guess once the cheque was received there was no incentive for the company to respond. In the end it was an expensive lesson. We should have asked what we would be holding in our hands at the end of the project.....basically we feel that what we got was not worth what we spent. Advice.....shop around and ask what you get for your money before proceeding with any company....
