Our electrician was doing an upgrade from 100 to 200 Amp service and he recommended we contact a roofer to be on emergency standby in case the mast needed to be moved and any of the roofing material was compromised. I used HomeStars to get some quotes. Jack, the owner of A-1 Professional Roofing contacted me within minutes of posting my request to HomeStars. He put me in touch with Clayton, his specialist on flat roofs and rolled out rubber roofing that has to be torched sealed. When I spoke with Clayton, he had already researched our property and knew exactly what he was dealing with. Very comforting. As it turned out, the electrical mast did not need to be moved and the integrity of our roof was not compromised. I certainly know who to contact if any issues arise.

Called on a Tuesday evening for a backed up basement drain that was emitting sewage gases and gurgling. The dispatcher told me that the plumber would be there between 6 and 9 p.m. Called back at 9 p.m. and was told he had an emergency call at the Rideau Center, but he would still try to make it prior to 11 p.m. Rescheduled for the following day. Scott arrived on Wednesday evening around 5 p.m. Snaked out our basement drain. Provided helpful pointers about a couple of plumbing issues we had mentioned to him. Efficient and pleasant to deal with. Helpful suggestions. The basement drain is no longer gurgling and smelly. Satisfied customer.

Very satisfied with my moving experience due to the efforts of the staff at Two Men and a Truck. Below is the review I left on their website. Of note is the fact that my family had positive interactions with everyone we dealt with in the office and on the day of our move we had some bonus helpers. Aside from some very minor dents, scratches and breaks, we are very pleased with how smoothly everything went. They were excellent. "Chose them primarily because they are/were local (Moved from Heron Park to Alta Vista and their office is on Kaladar in Heron Park) and available. Had very positive interactions with their office staff and timely responses to my queries. Four men and a truck showed up just slightly before 9 a.m. Abdul, Ben, Willy and Yaya were very courteous, friendly and reassuring when they arrived. They put us at ease and we felt confident that our move would go smoothly. And it did. Very impressed with their work ethic and efficiency. They also seemed like they were enjoying the task. We weren't as organized as I had hoped we would be, but the guys guided us through the remainder of the excruciating packing and moving experience in good spirits and good humour. They were fabulous. Highly recommended." They are not "cheap", but they provide quality services. Their workers appeared to be happy with the work they were performing and were efficient and effective. The workers we spoke to had been with the company for awhile. Having checked their online reviews, I recognized some of their names when we were introduced. That was comforting, to put faces to the names. I certainly wasn't disappointed with their service.

Had a number of quotes from reputable roofers reviewed on HomeStars. Ended up going with Roofmasters because of our positive experience dealing with Guy Lemire. Took awhile to book the installation of new shingles. Installation took place early November 2013. Went with the 25-year asphalt shingles. Roofing crew was young, but pleasant to deal with. Respectful and informative. Overall quality of the installation was good, but not excellent. Some work wasn't fully completed (missed a section of drip edge, corner shingles not installed properly) necessitating a return visit by Byron who was the foreman for our job. There were some other organizational issues that didn't really impact on us, but lengthened the stay of the work crew (skid for shingle and roofing waste was a day late, air compressor for the nail guns ran out of gasoline, etc.). Cleanup along the side of our house where we have interlock was fairly good, but there were numerous nails and building scraps in our front garden plot and backyard, and a handful of nails on the roof on both sides (semi-detached bungalow). The shingles on the hips of the roof are not as straight as they could be. Some of the shingles aren't laying as flat as they could be. Have to wait until the summer to see if they flatten out in the heat. I expect the followup service (if necessary) should be fine.

Salesperson and owner Fabien Cauley was very easy to deal with when we met in July 2013. He spelled out a number of options and prices. I was impressed by the quality of the aluminum sample he provided. We took quite a bit of time to get back to him because we needed more quotes and we were having our roof reshingled. This delayed the work until November 2013. A busy time of year for eavestroughing companies. Took a bit of time to get a call back to arrange possible installation dates. The work took 2 days. We were very pleased with the end result. They did extra work that had been discussed but not explicitly spelled out in the contract. To our relief they didn't charge extra. Very happy with the service provided. Anticipate that the follow up service (if necessary) will be equally agreeable. Note: Some cleanup was necessary (scraps and screws and nails especially from our front garden, which could also have come from the roofing work), but not excessive.
