After Meeting with Tony the sales guy on site to discuss the scope of work, we agreed on a price to replace the shingles and install two sky lights on a house that was undergoing extensive renovations along with anything else that maybe required. I kept him informed on the progress and had a May 25th date scheduled. Two days before I received a call that we had to move the date to Tuesday May 29th which required me to reschedule inspections and other trades. May 29th came around and no one showed up and I could not get a hold of anyone on the phone. Later on that night I received a call with a long winded excuse as to why they couldn't make it but told they would arrive the following day at 10 am. I then took a second day off work and waited on site for them to show up. at 10:30 I called their office again no one answered. At 11 am two young guys that barely spoke English showed up and started setting up their ladders. I started to review what had to be done with them and got the sense that they did not know how to install the sky lights and patch the hole that remained after removal of old chimney. I then reviewed the material they had learned that they did not bring enough roof vents, No step flashing and no L flashing, All of which was discussed with the sales guy Tony. I again attempted to call the sales guy and office and could not get anyone on the phone. The two guys then started taking pictures and calling their office. Shortly after they packed up their ladder and left never to be heard from again. I tried calling and the company no longer has an active voicemail and I can not get a hold of anyone. I never heard from them again.

To make a long story short, I installed my own windows on my bungalow witch required caulking on 6 windows. I called and spoke with Rimas and explained the layout. He was able to give me a price over the phone and a date/time. He sent me a text to let me know he was on his way. He showed up early and started right away. He trimmed all the foam surrounding the new window and cleaned up after. Total job took about an hr. He and his worker were very pleasant and are highly recommended!

Second time using uptown, they asked me a few questions over the phone about my Samsung fridge and showed up the next day with the part! No need to call anyone else /don't bother shopping around...too bad not all trades/companies are this easy to work with.

While trying to salvage a previously tenant occupied unit I learned that 4 of my appliances needed repair and the washer and dryer were practically brand new (gota love tenants!). I contemplated cutting my losses by buying all new units but worried I would be in the same position in two years time when the new tenants moved out. I called Uptown appliance to get an Idea of the repair costs and had a visit right away and thank god because I couldn’t take any more time off work! (yes they left the place in that bad of shape). I think Chris the repair guy sensed my frustration and tried to cheer me up, pointing out that the fridge and dishwasher where quick fixes. 5 minutes later and a quick trip to his van for some spare parts the fridge was no longer leaking and dish washer was up and running! The washer and dryer required some parts that had to be ordered but Chris was able to return another time that worked well for both of us. All in all, I’m happy I didn’t buy new appliances and the repair costs were peanuts compared to buying new. As for costs, one service call price for all 4 appliances and continues labor rate + parts= reasonable cost. Chris is my appliance guy from now on and will be recommending him to friends and family. Draincom was recommended to me by word of mouth. I have used their services for water proofing and back water valve installation. The sales associate Slava is honest and able to provide multiple options that suit your budgets and needs. After having a back water vale installed I noticed water (later found to be ground water) present in the newly excavated hole. Being recently flooded, I called drain come and spoke with Liz expressing my concern. She wasn’t able to provide me an explanation right away but was able to get back to me with answers VERY promptly! In addition, Draincom sent out a supervisor named Eugene the same day (Saturday of a long weekend ! ) with a drain camera so confirm proper connections and put my concerns to rest. I’m very impressed with the customer service provided by Liz and the speedy on site visit by Eugene.
