Omar did the best job he could, but it wasn't really enough. He gets an 'A' for effort, and he seemed quite knowledgeable when he arrived first day. He was also a very good communicator, updating me regularly with text messages, and letting me know when and if his arrival time changed.
But he's just not that good a painter, period. And he hired a helper, David, who wasn't even a painter at all (!) And it showed. Too much paint in spots (dripping and beading), two little paint in others. And Some spots were missed entirely. Oh, but David DID paint 1 set of my brand new brushed nickel door hinges, Ugh!
Omar was also disorganized. He took 4 days to do a 2-1/2 day job. First day he arrived late and left early. Two other days he arrived late. He only stayed later on the final night in a hurried attempt to finish the work. And right in the middle of the job, he had a previously scheduled family medical appointment booked that had slipped his mind (it kept him away from the jobsite for the whole day.)
What else; nail holes still showing, some sloppy caulking; and a bit of poor brushwork.
I definitely would recommend him for a garage or a basement, where the finished look won't matter nearly as much. But he's definitely not ready for the main floor.
All that said, he came across as an honest, straight-forward tradesperson.
His partner is Nick, who handles the calls and job pricing. He was ok to deal with , though he did change the price 3 times on the phone with me. First it was $2200, then $2500, then finally $2400. Didn't exactly build on my confidence.
