I already had quotes to do some painting for the exterior of the house eg. 2 pillars, 6 shutters and front door (back and front). But before I was to finalize on a paint company Finesse Finish went knocking door to door. They came to my house and I thought it wouldn't hurt to quote free quote. Too my surprise They were fairly cheap compared to the other companies. Maybe this is because this company is run by students. The painting I needed wasn't rocket science so I thought it wouldn't hurt to give them a try. The price was too good. According to their website it states that they will drop off the paint and other materials a day early. This didn't happen - they dropped off the items the day of the paint job. It also says they start to paint early in the morning, they didn't start the job until appx 9:30-10am. I would have thought they would have started earlier? I guess they had other jobs to do. I think if you state something on your website then you should be true to what you post. When they gave me the estimate I asked them how long would the job take? They told me a day or a day and a half at most. They took 2.5 days to do our job. Normally I don't mind but because they were painting the front door I had to leave it partly open to let it dry which meant I had to be home. I rearranged my schedule to ensure I was home for 1.5 days but had to cancel some appointments for the extra day. I wish they would have not over promised. When they got to the house they were respectful and if I saw anything that needed touch up or extra paint they did. They did try to aim to please when there were on the job site. We were happy with the end results. I like the fact that they were honest. They broke one of the lights on the yard and told us and said they would replace it. Since they were honest and it didn't cost much to replace the light I told them to not worry about it. I would hire the them again and would recommend them to anyone. The day the finished the job at my house I actually gave a friend of my their contacts.

Vicamp was recommended to me by a friend. I called around for quotes and decided to go with Vicamp. Yuriy was great to work with. He didn't over do the pot lights...did just the right amount. He was tidy, covered the floor and vacuum afterwards. We were really happy with the work he did. I would recommend Yuriy to anyone looking for pot lights - his price is reasonable and he is honest - which is hard to find.

Aldo was recommended to me by a friend of mine. We hired him to do some general contract work on our new purchase house – paint, hardwood, added a closet, reno a bathroom etc. Aldo and Emilio are great guys to work with. They are very responsive and took care of our house as if it was their own. They answered all the questions we had and also educated us on house repairs. Some of the caulking didn’t dry properly so I called them and they came back to fix the issue within a week. I would hire them again and recommend them to anyone. I was so happy with their work that I ask them to leave their lawn sign at my house because I would like to have them come back to do any other work I need done in the future.

I brought a central vac system with a hose package from Julian last month. For some odd reason the hose would shut off and turn back on for no reason when I am using it, I called Julian to tell him the problem - within a couple of days he came to my house. He diagnosed the issue and replaced my hose at no charge. He has great customer service and very reliable. If he says he will come by to your house he will. I am very happy with his service. Not all service people will come back after they sold you their product but Julian stands behind his product. I am so happy that I brought the system from him and know that if I have any issues I can always count on him.

I found Maple Window & Eaves Cleaning through Homestar and saw that they had a high rating and great reviews therefore I decided to hire them. Overall, they did the job, however were poor in communicating – they cleaned my eaves trough without telling in advance and I had to follow up several time for them to respond to my questions. I called them the week of July 29th to book an eaves trough cleaning. They advised me that someone would come and clean my eaves trough the following week. I was told that I did not need to be home since the work was being done outside. However I wanted to be home because we just moved into our house and would like to know the condition of the eaves trough - I just wanted to know if I had to replace it soon or if it was good for another couple of years; a simple request. The person on the phone told me I would either receive a call or email to confirm the time and date. I got home on Monday August 5 (Civic Holiday) and found their sign on my lawn. I received no phone call or email advising me that they were coming. I called them the next day to ask why I did not receive a call. They apologized - I told them I wanted to know what the condition of my eaves trough were. The person said she would get back to me, however it was over a week and I still did not receive any news on the condition of my eaves trough. After that, I emailed them and called them a number of times – with no response. My only correspondence was an email from a Yahoo account with an invoice to pay for their services. From the invoice email, I emailed them back asking that I get in touch with the person that cleaned my eaves trough (I would like to know the condition of them). One week went by with no answer. Then on August 12th, I received an email from the owner apologizing - she had been away and that even though the invoice come from her email, it was not her sending it. In my opinion as a “customer” it doesn’t matter whose email it came from – if someone from the company was able to send me an invoice through email then someone from the company should be accountable to respond. The owner forwards my request to an employee and tells me the employee will get back to me with my request. However, the employee NEVER did. Finally after I sent them a number of emails to follow up – the owner sent someone to look at my eaves trough. On August 23rd, over 3 weeks since I initially called Maple Window Eaves Cleaning Inc. – someone came to my house. He was great, answered all my questions and took the time to educate me about eaves trough. I was very satisfied with the service that the person provided. Although I finally got the service I wanted, the hassle that I had to go through just to get it was not worth it. The person who came to look at my eaves through advised me that I should repair one of the eaves trough piping and that his company does this sort of work. After what I been through with this company…I am going to look somewhere else to get it fixed.

I recently moved into a new home that had an old central vacuum that wasn’t working well. I checked on Homestar and found Julian. Called him and he came the same day. He was great – educated me about central vacuum and updated my system. I also called him back to help me shampoo my carpet. His prices are very reasonable. He has excellent customer service! I would not hesitate to refer him to anyone. Now I am in love my central vacuum, I can’t go back to using a regular vacuum.

I got several quotes but we decided to go with Andrew and he was GREAT! It was probably 40+C outside and he did the work no complaints. He worked until dusk. Did everything we asked for. Our neighbours saw what he was doing and liked him so much that they want to hire him as well. We are going to have him come by the house again to do some other trees we have. He is an awesome guy and totally understands the customers needs. Now our house has sunlight verses having all those trees covering it. Thanks so much Andrew!
