We hired Haliburton Highlands Forestry Services to create a Managed Forest Plan for our 40-acre property. Clayton enthusiastically embarked on the project and, because we were interested in the process, was delighted to make it a participatory experience, allowing us to tag along, observe, and learn. His obvious respect for, and love of, the forest reaffirmed for us that we'd hired the right man. Clayton kept us informed of the status of our Managed Forest Plan application as it made its way, successfully, through the Ministry of Natural Resources process. The price we paid for this service stands out as one of the best value-for-money expenditures we've ever made. We highly recommend Haliburton Highlands Forestry Services without reservation. The firm is reliable, accessible, knowledgable, helpful and honest.

Following a severe wind storm, we found that a large aspen tree had blown over onto a lovely white birch. The birch was basically holding up the broken aspen, and bending under the weight of it. McArthur Tree Service carefully and successfully removed the aspen tree, rescuing the birch. They were very quick to respond to our request for help; a trait that makes them fairly unique in my experience. We were really impressed with the safety measures employed during the removal of the large aspen. The owner, Hugh McArthur, is extremely honest and reliable and we have recommended his services to at least six friends. We will definitely be calling on them again in the future.

Even though I've now moved from Scarborough to the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario, when friends offered a beautiful antique couch and chair to us, I packed it into our trailer and drove it to Upper Canada Upholstery so that Keith could work his usual magic. This matching set is probably slightly older than 80 years, and has gorgeous carved wood accents on the vertical face of the arms, and across the bottom-front. The fabric that was on the set was a salmon-coloured satin-like material, which, while in very good condition, was faded and not a match for our other furniture or our 'country' lifestyle. I chose a durable faux-suede from the extensive selection of samples and the results Keith achieved were astounding. These two pieces of furniture never fail to get positive comments when friends and family visit. Keith knows his stuff, and has great knowledge and respect for old, well-constructed classics like these two beauties. Thank you, Keith. I'll see you again next time I have a piece of furniture in need of a make-over!

This is not the first review I've written about Upper Canada Upholstery, but Keith's work is so exceptional that his firm is worthy of more than one positive review...and this latest job was a few months away from the first time I used Keith's services. In the last 2 months, I've moved from Scarborough to our cottage near Haliburton. But, just prior to the move, I was smart enough to have one more job done by Upper Canada Upholstery...the loveseat that Keith restored (including the padding and other "guts") is now a focal point of our living room up north. Our "cottage" friends, most of whom had never seen our city furniture, seem to naturally gravitate to this cool early-70's, looking-like-new, very comfortable loveseat. They all, to a person, have commented on how gorgeous it is. Even though I'm now living 180 km away, I'll still travel to Upper Canada in Scarborough for any future re-upholstery jobs.

Having lived in the same home for our entire married life (29 years), we had never made a major house move. Joe and his crew made the experience absolutely painless! They arrived bright-and-early and got to work right away. We were moving from Toronto to our cottage, about 2 1/2 hours to the north-east of the city. The packing of the truck was well-organized and done skillfully and carefully. Everything was protected and firmly secured. Every single item of furniture (including antiques), all of our framed art prints, and every box of glassware arrived in perfect condition. Joe and Carlos were professional, friendly, focused, experienced, and exceptionally hard-working. I discovered Upper Canada Upholstery via the HomeStars website. I wish I'd known about Keith years ago! He took two old chairs...one was an antique, the other just "vintage" (but a favorite)...and made them look better than new. I now get to enjoy them for many years to come, and I'm looking around my house trying to figure out what else I can ask Keith to restore. Fred and his crew made my "vintage" carpets look like new! They arrived on the dot of our appointment, quickly and efficiently got to work and the job was done in no time. These old wall-to-wall and stairway carpets look like they were just put down. The pile is high, clean and fresh. Fred really focused attention on the problem areas and they basically disappeared. Fred is very responsive to his customers...call-backs are almost instantaneous. I highly recommend this company without hesitation.

I had this little "ugly duckling" of a side table at our old cottage up north. It had potential, but was obviously abused in a previous life. It was wobbly, and the finish on it was shot. Karen took care of the structural problems superbly and Cil finished it to perfection...the ugly duckling is now a gorgeous swan. In fact, it looks so good now, I'm not sure I want to take it back up to the cottage! Thank you both for the obvious care and attention to detail you bring to your craft. I'm so glad I found you!

Joe is just the best service experience I've had in as long as I can remember!! My appliances are "vintage", but that was no challenge for Joe. Repairs were completed quickly and at a great price.
