I hired JT Construction Solutions in 2021 to fully renovate our 1st and 2nd floor of our century home. Our project involved demolition right to the studs on both floors, removal of structural walls and installation of steel beam to achieve an open concept. Additionally, we redid all of our plumbing throughout the house and installed a 2nd 100amp electrical panel through which all of the electrical in this newly renovated space was wired. At all times Justin and Ted were responsive to our calls and all of their staff were clean, considerate, and professional. We highly recommend JT Construction Solutions for a renovation or a new build and we hope to work with them in the future ourselves.

We hired Master Deck in 2015 as part of a complete backyard make over and more recently invited Alec and his team back to reconfigure the deck to install a deluxe three person hot tub. In 2015 we had some vague ideas of how to maximize use of our small backyard but Alec completely revamped the plan with a two tier deck that was perfectly proportioned around our chosen outdoor furniture and 2 large maple trees. Most recently, Alec came back to cut out a 7' x 5.5' area, laid a concrete pad for our deluxe hot tub, and then added finishings to make the new addition fit in perfectly. Alec worked quickly, always showed up on time, and was very pleasant as we asked questions or made adjustments during the construction process.

I recently hired Premiere Smart Homes to install in-ceiling Atmos surround sound speakers and the behind-the-wall and in-ceiling wiring to go along with it. I called only a few days before Christmas break and I was thoroughly impressed with their customer service to be able to shuffle their schedule and accommodate my short timeline. Their flawless installation took only two hours but most impressive is that the install was done without making a single unnecessary hole in the drywall so absolutely no repair work was necessary. I will now be enjoying full 5.1.2 Atmos surround sound in my basement over the December Holiday break thanks to Premier Smart Homes. Thank you!

Underpinning a 100 year old Toronto home from 5’6” to 8’ ceilings is a daunting project for any contractor. Our project consisted of underpinning, waterproofing, sump pump and sewage ejector installation, increasing our city water service to 3/4” copper piping, as well as additional plumbing work. With any major project we undertake, we conduct extensive due diligence. For this particular project, we obtained no less than seven complete job proposals. Vlad and Bohdana, of Umbrella, set the tone right from our very first interaction all the way through to the end of the job and many follow up discussions thereafter. Umbrella’s quotation was clear and complete with Vlad answering many questions, providing references and recommending a superb structural design firm. Work started on time and the actual project duration was less than their competitors said the project would take. Umbrella’s trades people were clean, considerate and responsive and Vlad and Bohdana never hesitated to answer the phone or promptly return messages to provide status updates or take instructions. Umbrella’s work passed all city inspections and when the city had questions on one inspection, Vlad promptly provided all required clarifications. The Penguin team (David, Amy, Jon, Seth) and their trades people delivered a job that was beyond what we could have envisioned before this project began. Our project started in June 2016 when we signed our contract with Penguin. Our basement was completely unfinished with 5’6” ceilings and water problems when we began. Upon signing, Penguin promptly and cleanly conducted demolition. Following demolition, we contracted another provider to underpin our house to 8’ ceilings, with waterproofing, sump pump, sewage ejector, removal of a wall, installation of a steel beam, and breaking through another wall for new ductwork to be installed. Our underpinning and structural work proceeded without a hitch. Following structural work, we hired a third contractor to relocate our furnace room and install separate damper enabled zones for each floor of our house. I share these details because David, from Penguin, went well beyond our expectations by closely following our progress and providing countless points of advice helping us to ensure only the best work was done on our house prior to Penguin’s actual project start. Upon completion of structural and HVAC work, Penguin got started December 20 with design proposals, framing, electrical, plumbing, insulation, magnesium board, tiles, trim, doors, flooring, stairs, painting, custom cabinetry, home entertainment setup, and clean up. Actual work started January 10 and we moved in February 17 with incidental work following. At all times, Penguin was extremely responsive to our requests. If I could highlight the single most impressive aspect of our collaboration with Penguin it would be that at all times throughout our 10 month project (only 4 months were directly with Penguin), all members of Penguin’s team listened to our needs and not once took us down a path that was contrary to our vision. I have been a long time customer of White Shark. I use them for Eaves, Window Cleaning and exterior painting. Last year White Shark painted my house and they did a fantastic job. This year they stained our brand new 700 sq. ft. deck and, again, I was extremely pleased with the result. Roger Singh planned all work around our schedules and he helped us choose our stain colour. The painters who did the work are long time employees of White Shark and they speak highly of the company which, for me, is a sign that White Shark is not only fair with their clients but they are also fair with their staff. We have been using White Shark for Windows and Eaves cleaning for the past 5 years and this year used White Shark for Exterior Painting. I make a point to do my research so that I find a contractor I can trust and who will take care in the work they do. White Shark has always been reliable and pays attention to details. There are many points I can highlight, but above all, Roger, his job site staff and the White Shark office are extremely professional about all of the projects we have hired them for and, in particular, give fair quotes and do not make our projects out to be more than they are. For example, I obtained 8 quotes for exterior painting ranging from 1x to 8x the cost for the identical job and I went with White Shark. Joel, the painter, was exceptional, very neat and completed the job on his own faster and with more care than the other contractors I spoke to said they could do it (one contractor quoted 3 people, 10 days, and 4x more gallons of paint ($$$)). So please consider my sincere recommendation of White Shark for Windows, Eaves and Painting! You won't go wrong!
