In short - BEWARE. We trusted the many great reviews of Mr. Bathroom, and I sincerely wish we hadn't. We had our bathroom reno scheduled for the week before Easter. When we realized this, we contacted to Yoni to ask if this was going to be an issue and if we should delay, and he assured us it was no problem. In the end, the team cut MANY corners. Firstly, as the tile work was done first, thankfully it was reasonably well done. However, it became obvious that the team was rushing by the third day. On the 4th day at about 9:30pm, the team called us upstairs to say they were finished the job. in order to help you understand just how poorly done the "finished" job was - a list of what we saw: - the metal finishing piece on the tile baseboard was cut and left as a jagged, sharp piece on both sides of the vanity (someone could've easily gauged their skin on it) - the clear silicone all along the tub looked terrible and showed a large gap between the tub and shower tiles - the toilet was not level and was wobbling back and forth - the towel bar was not level - towel hooks were loose - shower bar was not installed properly - there was NO grout at all in several places along the baseboard - the bathroom door actually did NOT close at all because the threshold was far too thick and not installed properly - we could see through the paint in some spots, again, just a sloppy job After pointing out some of these aspects that were immediately visible, we told the guys that considering all of the issues, they would have to come back. The next day my husband called Yoni to report that we had several concerns about the "finished job" and his response was "Why are you calling me? Call the other guys."(verbatim). In the meantime, we realized that our brand new tub also had a chip in it which was not there when it was unboxed. When we mentioned the chip, Yoni's response: "Well, such is life!! So, you have a chip in your new tub." We had a tense conversation and when he left I was astonished at how extremely rude and unprofessional he was with us. The following day, Yoni came by again and brought another employee along to have a look. Following this, he actually called to apologize, said that we were right to be upset, that the job was extremely poorly done, and he promised he would take care of us. In the end, a few things were rectified and fixed, however not everything could be. When it came time to pay the bill, we were offered a somewhat reasonable discount for the troubles and we settled up. However, upon closely examining, we realized that the allowances for the tub ($300) and taps ($80) were never credited back to us and should have been. When we addressed this, Yoni tried to pretend that this was actually because of the discount and he would draft a new invoice deducting those expenses off of the discount offered. This was another fight, and he reluctantly agreed to refund the allowances that should have been taken off the bill in the first place. Because the guys had put white silicone on top of the clear rather than doing the job properly, we now we have mould/mildew collecting between the white and clear silicone. I recently contacted Yoni about this and he is refusing to stand by his work and re-do the silicone. The "warranty" advertised on the website is entirely a false claim; they will not fix the issue that is resulting because of a terrible job done in the first place. I have seen other bathroom renos that are completely mould free in the tub/shower area after 5, 6, 7 years and this is less than a year after our reno. Things that cannot be fixed: - our showerhead, taps, and tub faucet are not in line at all - vanity is not level - dented tile framing, metal finishing along the tub wall We are irritated, disappointed, and left with a mess that is our responsibility to fix because Yoni does not stand by his work. I'm glad that this clearly hasn't been everyone's experience, however I felt I had to share ours just in case you are second guessing your choice to settle on Mr. Bathroom. Thank you for reading.

Company Response

Hi there,

It is challenging to receive this review one year out from your project completion date following all our conversations and attempts at remedying the situation to your full satisfaction, but we thank you for sharing your experience. We did fully acknowledge that there were issues to be resolved following your renovation, and we followed up with each outstanding issue until all that you had mentioned in your review were resolved. We do want to remind you that the layered silicone you’re referring to was completely removed and replaced — there is currently no layered silicone in your washroom. Upon completion, we provided you with a 20% discount on the entirety of your project, simply for your time and dissatisfaction, beyond all allowances that were rightfully credited back to you.

To not mislead future customers, we wish to note that our 3-year labour warranty is not false by any means — our warranty covers all labour-related issues. Unfortunately, the development of mould (moisture build up) is not a labour-related issue and is usually a result of not utilizing your fan, or inadequate ventilation over time. As we advise our customers, moisture build up can be remedied with regimented sanitization upkeep and fan utilization. We offer an additional opt-in 10-year warranty at a cost of $200/year that involves a service call to replace your silicone yearly. We did offer you this option transparently as a solution; as much as we wish we could, we unfortunately cannot provide unlimited complimentary service calls on maintenance-related issues.

It is rare that jobs can be completed to perfection, but we fully stand by the integrity of our crews and our transparency, and we always work to resolve all issues or concerns to customer satisfaction, when they do arise. As a business, it would be difficult to continue operations and provide our customers with bathrooms that leave them with fully satisfied for years to come if the above were indicative of how we operate and our founder’s demeanour — but, of course, we do encourage everyone to do their own research, and reach out to us if they have any concerns or questions regarding references or past experiences from our customers. We apologize that, despite our best attempts, we weren’t able to satisfy your needs, as this is what we always strive to do as a business.
