We were searching for new furniture for our family and found just what we wanted at another furniture store - the cost for the couch, love seat and chair was $4100 plus tax and delivery. We left to think about it and the next day went to MJM Furniture. While I did not see much to our taste, I did happen to find the same furniture, same make we had been looking at at the other store. The cost for the same couch, love seat and chair, as well as one other accent chair, was $3500 with taxes and delivery in. Big difference in cost. The items were ordered and held until we had our family room painted and a new rug installed. Delivery was when we wanted it, and on time. The only concern that I had was that we had to put the accent chair together ourselves.

The Newton Home Depot has been our go to place any time we are considering home renovations. This time it was the family walls and floors. We bought a special suede paint that had a sort of grit mixed in and spent 3 days getting our feature wall to look just right - the final coat had to be hand painted in small x's, so it took a long time. The instructions for using this paint informed the user that it was not a paint that 'touched up well." We ordered our new rug and Home Depot arranged for the installation. The two installers were on time, tidy and pleasant, but when they had finished I noticed a 3 foot scrape along the paint, as well as two other smaller marks on the wall. When I pointed it out, the installers took pictures for their records and said should call the customer service line at Home Depot. After a few days of waiting for a call back, arrangements were finally made to have an agent come and have a look. At first he took no responsibility, I felt he was trying to just brush me off. He told me that I should be aware that the rug should have gone in before painting - that did not make sense! He also said that he did not have access to any painters to fix the problem - I said I was willing to try to fix the problem, but if it did not work, I would expect Home Depot to take responsibility. We had to drive back to Home Depot to have the paint remixed so the grit would be suspended again, and came home and I attempted to repair the damage. Although I could somewhat notice the repair when I was finished, I decided I could live with it. Home Depot Head Office phoned and listened carefully to my view of the situation. Since I said that I was satisfied with my repair, we considered the issue closed and they offered two $50 gift cards to Home Depot for my trouble.

We have been landscaping our yard and wanted to include some Begonia for colour in a very large planter that my husband made. Although it was late in the season, Hunters still had some begonia bulbs for sale. We bought about $30 worth and planted them. We were disappointed to note that only 6 of the bulbs came up. The next time we were at Hunters, I mentioned the problem to the clerk and was surprised that she immediately looked up the purchase and gave me a credit for the full amount. They definitely guarantee their stock.

During the last rain storm, our basement flooded. We were aware that our drain tile was clogged with dirt and tree roots, so we contacted Drain Master for assistance. They were prompt with their estimate and scheduled the job promptly when requested. The young man that came out was prompt, polite, informative and productive. Would recommend them .

This year patio raspberry bushes were advertised in many places. We bought ours from Potters and at first were satisfied with it. However, after a about 3 months, leaves dropped and it looked like it was dying. We returned the bush to Potters and they happily accepted it back and gave us a credit for future purchaces.

Note: The listed cost is an estimate as this company was sent to us from Columbia Counter Tops and was part of their installation quote. Chad Paton was professional, on time and knowledgeable - He recognized that there might be a problem if he installed the sink that we had purchased because no overflow was provided. He suggested that we supply another small part so he could correct the problem before it happened.

We had a complete kitchen redo and Pacific Rim took care of the cabinets and counter tops. While there were a few misunderstandings with regard to the look of the cabinets, we worked through them and were completely satisfied with the final product. Work was done in a timely manner by professional installers.

Our chimney had not been cleaned for many years. The employee arrived in the stated time frame, did an excellent job with no mess. He provided us with valuable information relating to our chimney that we were not aware of, and had not questioned him on. The price seemed reasonable for the time spent.

We have been renovating two bathrooms and had the toilets in both rooms replaced. The employee, Aman, was pleasant, on time, completed the removal and install in a reasonable time and cleaned up after himself. We have recommended the company to our daughter for some work in her home.

When we contacted Hillcrest on a Friday, they were able to schedule an appointment on the following Monday. We told the office that we needed a drain unplugged and a leak in the laundry room fixed. The plumber was on time, pleasant and professional. The drain was fixed, however, as his office did not mention the leak in the laundry room, he was unable to fix it and we needed to make another appointment. We were only charged for the plumbers time (not travelling time) for the second visit.

Our insurance required an electrical inspection due to aluminum wiring. Grimes and White were contacted and scheduled an appointment promptly. Mike was on time and very pleasant, professional and knowledgable. He inspected all of our outlets and connections and made all of the required repairs. Although we had not mentioned problems with kitchen light, he took the time to replace kitchen ballasts
