My poor small condo townhouse always has trouble getting attention for renovations. However Mark promptly returned my email and came by to quote the project. In the end his efficient and courteous crew got the job done in about 2 hours. It went quickly as Mark, seeing I was in the midst of renovations, suggested I pull the old carpet myself both to freshen the trim (a great idea!) and save some labour costs. Demo is always easier for a newbie since you don't have to be careful. Though the vision of all those staples made me a bit queezy it was only a couple hours dusty work. There's a reason these guys have been tops for 5 years as far as I can tell. Very good experience.

In between Christmas and New Year's, Komandor's 2-man crew installed 2 gorgeous closets in my townhouse. An 11' x 6' walk-in closet with 4 sliding doors and a 10' wide built-in closet with 2 enormous, beautiful sliding doors. The project has added at least double it's cost in value to the house. Good company to choose if you want 1 step below the top shelf, though I don't think you lose anything in quality or workmanship. About the only thing you sacrifice with Komandor is a pretty store-front. They have a kiosk in the Bay, but it's more a taster; you have to go to their warehouse to finalize your units. However, the designer we had made it painless - he did the 3d mockups while sitting at my dinner table. The crew were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, since they don't normally do as much 'odd-job' work as our place required it took an extra 2 days to finish the 5 day project, but we are EXTREMELY happy with the result.

I can't stop telling people what a great experience this was. I initially was flustered at the high price & restrictions on moving items (boxes & lots of padding), but when the day came, the team that showed up was: a) strong!; b) extremely pleasant (the team leader just turned 30 and has been to 30+ countries...makes the convo easier when you're between loads); c) very accomodating. We spent a week boxing and wrapping as much as we could, but were still worried about the various odds and ends. The team not only came with an abundance of extra cardboard and furniture blankets, but with a willingness to just get the job done. In fact, they were probably more determined than I would have been on my own. I could probably have managed similar work over double the time for half the cost (rent movers, rent own van, etc.), but getting it done in 1 go and the COMPLETE lack of effort was worth every nickel.
