Well, it must have been a sign from above as Brent was in the building doing other work when he called me back. He came down, quickly assessed that my capacitor was not working and replaced it. Mike was very quick to come by and give a free quote. His quote was fair considering it was, in part, a difficult job: one carpet had to be on third-storey loft level and the only way up was through a narrow staircase, so we had to leave a queen bed-set and a futon up there; Mike had to work with furniture in the room (not to mention the trick of getting the carpet up).The job was done quickly and professionally and the owner is happy (I am her real estate agent and coordinated this as well as her other renos). And the price was fair considering we had it compared with a "discount" carpet company that was actually more money.Thanks so much, Mike. Hi, after having a problem with carpenter ants, we were told that there was damage to the frame of our back door. I found Tony and called him in for an estimate. His pricing seemed fair enough and he looked like he had a lot of experience and stood by his work. It was more work than one would first think: to install the new frame, he had to cut some slate tiles and use the old door knob and lock, (he recommended this). To my non-expert eyes, it seemed like he did a great job. For what it's worth, when the ant control person came back, he seemed very impressed with the work Tony did. I'd try Tony again for a similar job and I'd recommend him as such.

Hi, we a leaky pipe under our kitchen sink. At first we had used another bigger plumbing company and had a negative experience. The leak returned the same night in full force but that other company refused to acknowledge that they didn't fix the problem and didn't want to refund their hefty charge. After searching Homestars I saw that Adrian was a small business owner that looked reasonably priced and seemed to do good work. He in fact fixed the problem quickly, took care of a fridge hose line install, and was reasonably priced. I will use him the next time we have a plumbing issue and I recommend you try him out, especially if you're tired of bigger, more expensive franchises that don't seem to really care.

Hi, I found Oscar through homestars. he was quick to arrive, pick up my TV, fix it and return it working great. The cost was reasonable and he was pleasant and seems eminently qualified (I believe he has a Masters in Engineering from overseas, if I recall). You might find cheaper service, but I would be wary. You usually get what you pay for when prices are super low. His prices were fair and he was easy to deal with. And he knows what he's talking about and doing. I recommend Oscar heartily.
