We have used 4 different inspectors while in Ottawa and Reg Doyle is by far our favourite and will be the one we use going forward. He was punctual, very thorough and extremely patient as he explained everything every step of the way. He encouraged questions and even sent us pictures afterwards (47 of them!) This allowed us to see areas that we were unable to see such as the roof and the attic. This was the first time I was able to see the roof of a house we were purchasing for myself :) He also had a thermal imaging camera that gave us information about the insulation, which was important since we were purchasing an older home. This helped us understand where to add extra insulation after we moved in. He seemed very familiar with older homes as well and understood the inner structure. He was very factual and didn't exaggerate or minimize issues (we have had inspectors that have done both in the past). We were very pleased with him and have recommended him to family and friends. It's no surprise he has a 10 rating :)

When we were looking to replace our oil furnace with a new gas furnace, we got quotes from 5 places. EN Blue were not quite the cheapest, but far from the most expensive. And since the furnace they were offering was far superior to the cheaper Goodman furnaces, we felt they were the best value. The sales person was great and really seemed to know her stuff. She also broke out the costs and when we saw it would be cheaper to hire our own contractor to remove the old oil tank, she happily deducted the cost from our invoice and agreed it made more sense for us to go that route. We were also considering an air conditioner, but she honestly told us that since there weren't enough return ducts upstairs, it wouldn't properly cool the place, so we should get the ducts fixed first before investing in central AC. We appreciated her honesty and her focus on energy efficiency. She also told us the 2-step furnace was more efficient that the more expensive multi-step furnace. When we looked into it, we found she was right about that too. We were very comfortable dealing with the company. The installers also did a great job, and laid down tarp to keep everything tidy and avoid scratches to our floor. Our furnace has been great and has cut our heating bill in half versus our old oil furnace! The entire experience was very positive and when we do get AC, we definitely plan on going with EN Blue.

We bought tiles for a small kitchen backsplash that we were going to install ourself. We knew we wanted white subway tiles going in. Olympia had great selection with walls and walls full of different colours and styles. If we didn't know what we wanted, it could be a little overwhelming and there wasn't any help offered. Luckily, we knew ahead of time. But even for white subway tiles, they had a selection of various shades and sizes, which was nice, and the price was great. I would definitely go back since me and my husband are confident picking out our own colours and styles and don't need much help from salespeople (actually we preferred being left alone). We did get some good advice on the type of grout to use after we purchased the tiles. When we went to pick up the tiles, there was a bit of a wait and we initially got the wrong boxes, but it was sorted out quickly.

We needed a window replaced since the city required a casement instead of a double-hung window. We got several quotes and Eco Ottawa was tied for the lowest price but had the best warranty. Plus as I read more about the window company, it seemed like a better product than the other company we were considering. Even though we were only getting one window installed, we were still given excellent customer service. They also suggested adding a coating to make the window more efficient for not much more cost, which has helped with the temparature of the room. Shane was always available to answer any questions, and the installers did a professional and clean job, and always arrived on-time for any appointments. Very pleased with the installation, the price, and how great the window looks!

We purchased a double-sized mattress and a twin mattress from this location. The showroom is very big with lots of selection. The salesman was polite, but didn't follow us around while we were shopping. He gave us plenty of space, but when we asked for help and advice, he gave us great advice. We ultimately ended up going with the mattresses based on his suggestions. He didn't push the most expensive ones and listened to our needs, which we appreciated. He also gave us a good deal on mattress protectors, which we took advantage of. On the day of delivery, the delivery men arrived on time. The front door was tight, so they came in through the back and helped us re-arrange a couple of things to get the mattress in. They were courteous and patient with this tricky delivery. Overall, very satisfied and would definitely go there for my next mattress.

I used this company twice. First to get a duct smoke detector installed. I got a few quotes and they were the most reasonable. I was a little nervous since I was only provided a rough quote through email - they asked the relevant questions and said it would be cheaper for me to get a rough quote by email instead of paying for a visit. Once Derek arrived, he worked very fast and was very focused on getting the job done, and the price ended up being cheaper than the quote! So when I needed interconnected smoke alarms installed, I didn't bother shopping around.. I got another rough quote by email and when they came, they once again came in at what they quoted and got the work done quickly and professionally. At both visits, they were very polite, professional and punctual. They are also ESA-certified, which gave me peace of mind. Overall, very happy with them. I even recommended them to my sister.

Astro was the only place in Ottawa where I could find pre-hung fire-rated doors. Unfortunately our doors took longer to arrive than we were originally told due to incorrect information provided by the manufacturer. As a result, we were unable to meet our deadlines and had to rearrange quite a few things. But the way our salesperson handled the situation is the reason I would go back to Astro. He was apologetic for the delay and called my husband to see if there was some temporary solution they could install so that our tenants could move in. We felt this could end up being complicated, so we declined. He then offered to deliver the doors as soon as they arrived, free of charge. Sure enough, as soon as the doors arrived, he personally delivered them. They were at our house within a half hour of coming off the truck. Even though it was not his mistake, we really appreciated him doing what he could to make it right. Also, the doors are excellent doors and we felt they were good value.
