Brian has been working in the field for over 10 years. My understanding is that he contracts himself to other installers like Home Depot and Reliance, but also does his own work. He put down drop sheets, Was MORE than happy to explain what he was doing because I was curious. He was very tolerant of my annoying (barking Dog) and took his time to do a good job. He showed up on time, Explained Why he was doing things the way he was, and before he left he took complete measurements and topped up the coolant (although it would have "worked", and most installers just assume the coolant in the Units work, he always double checks before leaving) Brian is straight forward, shoots from the hip and is completely honest. He was up front with pricing, was nearly $1000 less than reliance and also a Hamilton Local. I'd much rather help a local, Hard working, Honest family man out than a huge conglomerate's CEO buy a 3rd vacation home.

After a debacle with Reliance, Bulletproof swooped in and saved the day. They were about 100 dollars more than my cheapest quote, however I got a good feeling from them! They showed up on time, literally rolled out the red carpet (to protect my floors) and my installers (Marcin, nice polish duo) were really professional. They replaced my 80,000btu mid efficiency with a 60,000btu GMEC96 furnace. Its MUCH quieter. I did have some issues with it cycling, just like my old furnace, which ended up being a restricted air return. They came and installed another air return from my basement at a good rate, and the furnace has been solid ever since. My only gripe is that Mike the sales guy oversold it a bit. Said that my A/C would be a lot better too because of the powerful DC blower, Unfortunately, I hav enoticed no difference - I attribute this to my House having horrible insulation - upstairs is always 4-5 degrees warmer in the summer, and 4-5 degrees colder in the winter. You can get a cheap furnace and install it well and it will work well. You can get an expensive furnace and install it poorly and it'll work poorly. The original furnace from 30 years ago was installed poorly. Bulletproof fixed the ducting issues, AND installed a new furnace and I couldn't be happier.

I have paid for their furnace service plan. They were out 3 times in a 2 weeks span for "No Heat" my furnace was short cycling. After the third time, I called another provider and ended up getting a new furnace - There were 4 cracks and a HOLE in the heat exchanger, leaking CO throughout my house. (Check your Carbon monoxide detectors everyone!) Its a miracle It didn't kill us - The recirculation fan was on 24/7 so that saved me from dying in the basement. I Can't believe they missed this, never checked for CO. The furnace was short cycling because the flames were going directly into my ductwork and overheating.

Ice storm made the tree fall on the power lines. Defender electric came the day I called, Clearly frozen and working like mad. THey managed to get me up and running MUCH faster than I anticipated, I was up and ready before my neighbour was, because they were Bonded? with CSA. Refered from Lopinski electric - I think there are some family ties there, but they are different companies. Unfortunately the guy on site told me it would be about 500 bucks, but the damage ended up being more extensive and the wires had to be replaced as the insulation had been sheared off. THe bill ended up being double than I expected, but they were VERY understanding and allowed me to pay in 2 installments as soon as I was able to. They did not gouge me, they did not price fix, its just there was more damage (which I verified with my own eyes) and they repaired it quickly at a reasonable price, although I was very much in a hard spot during the worst storm in a decade. They saved my bacon, My near frozen pipes, and were great to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone.

called in because Building inspector told me there was a Leaky soldier joint to the hot water tank, I'm getting horrible hot water pressure in ALL taps/showers/laundry, etc. Rep comes on site next day, which was nice. Tells me that rust and moisture leaking from pipe is just condensation from heat of the exaust vent and the cold of the inlet pipe. Buyable. Except Clearly, the crud/minerals/corrosion has built up into a mountian. He then proceeds to show me melted plastic on the hot water heater, where the pipes come in and out. This is because the exaust vent gets very hot. it scared the crap out of me. He assured me it wasn't an issue.... which I find hard to believe. its MELTING. It holds 40 gallons of steaming hot water. How is it not an issue? I then tell him about my horrible water pressure. it takes 15 minutes for my washer to fill up with hot water... or 2-3 minutes for a cold load. Shower has to be set to almost 80% full hot to get proper temperature. He informs me he won't be fixing it because we still have hot water, and it might be our pipes, not the water heater. I told him I find that hard to believe, as the pipes are dented or anything, and it effects EVERY outlet in the house, even the one thats 4 feet from the water heater. Regardless, he basically said I could try draining the tank and refilling it to see if that helps, but wouldn't help me do it. I'll be buying my own hot water heater as soon as I can afford it. Also, Sick of high pressure sales. Every time I call, they keep hassling me to sign up for 60 dollars a month worth of protection plans, which still wouldn't have covered my issue anyway. I know this seems overly negative, but if you look at my other reviews, they are honest and to the point. The person who visited did put on boot covers, and was very clean. He seemed to offer a lot of advice, but no real help when I asked for it. How can the 4 feet of pipe different from the cold vs. hot be the cause of my horrible hot water pressure? its either the leaky connection (which still glistens when I set the hot water heater to "vacation" for a week) or something restricting the flow inside the heater itself... Again, Going to purchase my own water heater. They've very well lost a customer for life.

I went into Home Depot with a mission, to get 3 8 foot pieces of cedar, 8 to 10 inches wide, and 8 feet long. They didn't have any in 8 foot lengths. I offered to buy the 16 foot if they'd cut it in half for me. They declined! They told me to get the 6 inch wide boards instead. This to me is very poor customer service, and I will be hesitant to get my lumber from there again. I ended up getting thicker Pine. I know it won't last quite as long, but it ended up being half the price. Using 2 inch thick boards vs 1 inch thick Cedar, I think I'll get about 75% of the life of cedar before it rots.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Customer service that is willing to spend 3 seconds to cut a board in half.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Home Depot is a great store for the DIY'er.

Richard Lopinski was the first Electrician I called that was willing to walk me through the entire process. He and his team (I think he's got about a dozen people) are all great, and had my work completed quickly, and Cleanly. They are by-the-book, no corners cut, "Doing it right" kind of people. I would highly recommend them. I would say my Only complaint is that they didn't take off their shoes, however it was a dry day and little dirt resulted. (to be fair, they probably work in a lot of dingy basements) Highly recommended!

Darren (owner and sole employee) is a Great guy, and very willing to go through your home and answer any questions. he doesn't hesitate to go above and beyond all duty to ensure that the home you are buying is exactly what it is claimed to be - a safe, sturdy home. I used him twice, the first time, he saved me by finding a hidden, uninsulated crawl space that was full of water and Mud! It wasn't even finished, and was open to the rest of the house without any insulation. The only way we found this was through his clever use of Thermal Imaging. The owners did very well to hide this. Not only is he very detailed in his reports, but he's great to work with, with a good sense of humor. I used him on the second (and final) house, and we're more than happy with his services.
