AMAZING company! I hired Umbrella to waterproof after discovering water in the basement in my newly purchased home. As a single mom who just purchased a new house, I was a bit overwhelmed with the work that had to be done. Vlad and Bohdana always put my mind to ease and were so awesome to work with - both were extremely knowledgeable and communicative. They made everything easy and seamless. They even organized two teams to complete the job in a condensed amount of time. When asked about the sump pump, Vlad said he would see if it was required after looking at the current state of the existing system. He concluded that he didn't think it was necessary. Other companies I got quotes from tried to up-sell the sump pump. I decided to get that and the backwater valve put in because of the city rebates. I really appreciate the integrity and ethics of this company. Vladimar, the plumber who did the sump pump and backwater valve install (and toilet repair) was respectful of my space, ensuring minimal mess and was super efficient. I have already recommended them to my neighbour, who is also using them, as well to many others looking to waterproof. Thanks again Umbrella team! You rock!!

I hired Java Electric again after using them to remove knob and tube at my previous house because they did an excellent job last time. And this time didn't disappoint. Arnoldo (and his partner) did an awesome job removing knob and tube, installing new receptacles and installing an exhaust fan in my 2nd floor bathroom. They were extremely pleasant to work with and very communicative about the work and next steps. They were punctual, patched all holes, and cleaned up. I highly recommend Java Electric. I called Ken to remove and sanitize the roof after roofers said it is being used as a raccoon latrine. He responded promptly and scheduled a visit within a couple days to accommodate my schedule. He not only cleaned the roof but identified the source - a raccoon family living in my neighbour's chimney. He also secured possible access points on my side. Super knowledgeable, personable and price was more than fair. Definitely recommend his services! Thanks so much Ken!

I called Accu-star to obtain a quote for removing or containing an exposed potential asbestos wrapped pipe. Nev came right away to take a look but found that it wasn't in fact asbestos rather a painted metal pipe and took the time to explain what an asbestos wrapped pipe would look and feel like. We also had a recent water leak in our basement and were concerned about potential mold. He didn't seem concerned unless we expose the mold - he took the time to explain where he believed mold exists but assured us it was dead, and that it was of no concern unless disturbed. Thank you Nev for being so honest and forthcoming!

Joe from Green Foam insulated our porch ceiling since our bedroom was overlapping with it and the floor was extremely cold in the winter. He showed us the spray foamed area before closing it up with pine tongue and groove - the End result is a warmer bedroom floor and beautiful pine porch ceiling which previously was siding meant to go on the side of the house.

We hired java electric to remove the remaining knob and tube from our house. It took about a week to do and the electrician was always punctual and very communicative. He did minimal damage to our walls and patched up any holes that he did make.

Trimbo replaced our large living room window with one that allowed in more light and that was more energy efficient. They were able to advise on the type of window that would fit our needs. They also insulated 4 of the original stained glass windows (our house is over 90 years old) as we wanted to keep the beauty of the glass, but also ensure it's energy efficient.

We had pacific flooring remove old carpet and replace it with wide plank laminate. They were able to advise on the material and what would make the condo (650 sq ft) look bigger. They were very detailed oriented and the job was fantastic. We were so pleased with the results, we asked them to do our my boyfriend's (now husband) condo! And have always gone back when we have flooring related questions or considering new flooring.

Jane vented our range hood outside, did our kitchen floors and added quarterrounds in our basement. She is extremely detailed oriented and a pleasure to work with. She kept us updated on her progress and made sure she cleaned up after each day - which was important since we have a toddler.

Horrible! The owner, Brittany B, took our deposit and never delivered the reclaimed wood furniture we ordered. It has been over a month since the originally promised delivery date. But we have only gotten repeated false promises of delivery and a refund. We filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Canadian Anti-Fraud Center and the Ministry of Consumer Services. Avoid the company "wood for life"! They're web address is www.woodforlife.com and advertise in online classified ads like kijiji. They promote the fact that their features in the Ottawa Citizen and when we did our research before contacting with them, we didn't find any reviews. I'm hoping this review will help others. Delsur marble installed quartz counters in our kitchen. They were punctual, and communicative. The counters look good but there was a slight yellow tinge on the white quartz in an area that was not obvious. They offered a solution that removed some of the yellowness and provided a quartz cutting board at no charge for the trouble.

We decided to go with Java Electric after getting a few estimates. Their price was competitive, we liked their pricing model (based on labour, not per item like other companies) and we really liked Pierre, the electrician - he was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Pierre and and his apprentice, Corey, arranged for all permits and inspection to remove all knob and tube from our 90+ year old home after we moved in 1.5 months prior. Both Pierre and Corey were a pleasure to work with. They were always punctual, personable, communicative and incredibly hard working. Pierre spent a lot of time in our sweltering attic to ensure he could remove all our knob and tube and replace it with new wiring. We really appreciated how they kept us in the loop about what was being done and especially his honesty about what needs to be done. Pierre explained how the electrical set up after mapping it out on day 1. And at the end of the day, he checked in to explain what was done and what he and Corey plan to do the next day. They cleaned up after the end of their work day, which we really appreciated especially since we have a toddler running around. We highly recommend Java Electric! Thanks Pierre and Corey!

The paint job was well executed. The lines are clean and they didn't leave a mess. However, we felt that it was a bit expensive and the owner was pleasant and knowledable but a bit pushy with colour choices and paint brand.

Great service and very professional. They arrived early and worked quickly while being careful with our belongings. Upon arrival to our new home, they laid out carpets and mats to minimize dirt. The price was fair and was on par with other moving companies - they provided moving boxes and a mattress protector for an additional cost. Overall, we thought they were efficient and did a good job.
