During some heavy spring rains some of our eavestroughs were overflowing due to build-up and blockages from twigs, leaves and seed pods. My wife said I had to fix it. After posting the project on HomeStars Mario was the first to respond, first to come out to see the problem (same day), and the first to quote. Between HomeStars and a Google search I got 5 quotes. The highest was 5x the lowest! I selected Mario for a combination of reasons: he was very pleasant to speak with; when one of the service providers said negative things about all other leaf guard systems Mario explained why that was wrong; he informed me of why his system would be ideal for my application; he had excellent reviews; was willing to start when we were available; and their pricing was competitive. The day of the job they were fast and left no mess. They took pictures of before, during and after. They even found and fixed a few little problems I couldnt see without a 30-foot ladder. I was happy with the work and would recommend Mario. In fact, I recommended him to 2 neighbours. Also, when his van was parked outside, another neighbour asked if Mario could help her with an issue on her house. He got another smaller job and helped my neighbour.

We needed a handyman QUICKLY so used HomeStars and their customer reviews to find 3 companies to contact. We selected JVC and Lucio. They were quick to repsond, come out to review the jobs, measure and quote...all within 48 hours. Then they started within 3 business days and worked hard and fast. No complaints at all. We even had them come back for another small job. We will definitely use Lucio and JVC again. I found making them cappuccinos and lattes made them work better ;-)

One day during the biggest heat wave of the summer of 2013 our house reached 29 degrees inside and we noticed the air conditioner wasn't working. The next morning we called Atlantis as they installed it 5 years earlier. They couldn't come until the next morning so we would have to endure another day and night of what turned out to be 30-33 degrees indoors. We called a few other places and none could respond faster. In fact, more than one didn't even call back. Atlantis said they would be at our house between 8 and 10 AM. The technician arrived right at 9 AM. This was good as I had to leave at 10:30 AM. Rather than trying to "screw" us the tech was great. In under 10 minutes he noticed knew what the issue was and said all the condenser (the unit outside) needed was a a cleaning. He took our hose, rinsed it down and all was good. Total cost was the cost of the service visit: $99 +HST.

As with most cases when you need a plumber, for us it was an "emergency". Coming back from vacation our kitchen floor was wet and the ceiling was starting to droop. We realized it was a leaking valve feeding our laundry room. A McKenna came out quickly and replaced both the hot and cold water valves in the laundry room. Since they were onsite I also asked them to take a look at a leak around the water tank. It was localized to the mixing valve above the water heater. The part was replaced. However, that night and the next morning we had no hot water. It seems the valve was installed in the wrong flow direction. When calling back to let them know of the issue - and the cold showers in the morning - they were quick to respond, identify the mistake and fix it. They were very apologetic and offered our next service call for free to make up for the inconvenience.

We have used Speers Flooring more than once, including when doing a main floor and kitchen reno and then when finishing our current basement. Their selection is large and there are price points for everyone. We have been happy with hardwood, laminate, tile and services. I doubt we will use anyone else as long as we live in the Oakville area.

Master Concrete were easy to deal with, providing a quick and accurate proposal then showing up as promised and finishing on time. The curb appeal of our house increased with the new walkway from the driveway to the house as it created a large garden space.

We used North Star Electric more than once. The largest job was some electrical work in the house (3-way circuits, new switches), running power to the cabana and pool, wiring the pool and Jandy Aqua Link pool controls, etc. We were very pleased with the end result. Not only was it to code but the electrical inspector thought it was very well done and one of the best pool electrical jobs he had seen.

My wife and I had a great experience with Mr. Crown Mouldings. The price and finished product were excellent. We will have the team back to do our whole basement when the renovation is finished shortly.
