We were designing our first kitchen (from small closed to large open kitchen) and did not know what we needed to do first. There was 'help' and computers available after waiting for a lengthy period of time. When we finally got a computer, the system was not very user friendly and the help was not available. After struggling for about 30 mintues help finally arrived. The staff told us what we needed and kept adding more stuff on to our order. When our delievery finally arrived, we were surprised how much extra pieces we had once it was assembled. We were able to return the extras (about $800!) with no questions asked. Overall we are very happy with our kitchen and would use Ikea again, just not counting on help.

He arrived 2 hours later than he said he would. Sent us a bill and we asked if he could itemize the costs of the materials and told him he overcharged by 2 hours. He threatened legal action and told us we were being "childish."

I picked him out of the yellow pages and he set me up with a free estimate. When he came to look he also gave me a reference sheet. I contacted about 3 of the 10 numbers provided (all the other ones were no longer in service) and they said he was ok. I figured it wouldn't be so bad because it was a simple job. The tiles look amazing (after Rona contractors screwed it up royally-see other review), but the painting... he insisted on doing it so we let him. The wall to be painted was about 3'x4' with a mirror in the middle and a light bar on top. He painted around the mirror, got paint on the mirror (which by the way comes off in 2 seconds had he asked or tried to move it) AND he broke our light fixture. As if that's not bad enough, he didn't tell us, but instead glued it back in place!!!

Don't be fooled, the only reason they got 5 stars for price is because they ended up selling (what they did charge) at price cost, and sometimes even a discount on top of that or just plain free (labour). This was such a disaster. It took from Oct 2005 till Jan 2005 and after that we hired someone else to finish it. Everything they did was so awful, they had to rip out all the new stuff and do it again (jet tub unlevel, tiles all crooked, sink plug installed backwards, wrong parts installed kickboard and tiles, or damaged parts (i.e. tool burn marks in bottom of tub). Because they installed our tile around the tub and left a 1/2inch gap between tile and tub, we are constantly having problems with it cracking and not holding properly. Even after we thought it was all over, we had to ASK them for our bill THREE TIMES!! what a joke.
