What can you say when a company's a disaster. Stay as far away as possible. Had to amend kitchen plans 3 or 4 times as measurements were continually wrong. After the counter tops were installed and we complained about the counter tops not extending right to the walls, then owner stated they conformed to industry standards. You mean there's an industry standard for shoddy work!!! Then became openly hostile when I kept asking exactly what that standard was. Don't step foot in this place. Don't go within 10 km of this place.

Nightmare reno, deceitful "service". Never finished the job, full of mistakes and never kept their promises or returned our calls. They have been sued by many other furious customers. Hope their doors remain shut and the owners see their day in court!

It may be worthless to write this review, as it seems that Fairway Kitchens has gone out of business (their phone is disconnected and a letter to them was returned), but I want to get this out there in case they show up again. We had them build us a custom bathroom vanity and wall cabinet in early 2007; within 6 months the laminate started peeling off the door and drawer fronts. I took those in once to have them re-laminated but that repair didn't last long. We finally decided to ask for replacements, only to discover they were out of business. I am appalled at the poor quality of the product and wish we had just gone with a non-custom product. They were even recommended by our contractor . . .

Just reading the other reviews you get an idea of how bad this company is. We had a similar experience with both poor craftsmanship and terrible customer service from both the previous and new owners. We bought our cabinets in October 2004 and it only took 2 years for them to start falling apart. From laminate peeling to hinges coming apart, it was obvious that they use cheap materials and don't know what they are doing. We called and visited their showroom on Bermundsey many times and were assured each time that they would send someone out. It's been 4 years and we haven't even received a call back. The new owners are just as bad as the old ones. Seriously, buy an Ikea kitchen. You'll get better quality and customer service if you need it.

Every person that I have ever talked to about Fairway Kitchens feels ripped off. The BBB should step in and help consumers.

On July 20th 2009, we signed a contract for bathroom cabinetry with Fairway Kitchens and gave them a deposit of $475. On that date Fairway Kitchens proprietor Pat Horning and an estimator Harry Greene came to our home to do the measurements for the items we wanted (a linen tower, a medicine cabinet and a corner vanity unit).
We indicated that we would need the completed units by early September to coincide with the completion of the bathroom renovation. Our contractor completed his work on schedule, we called to arrange pick of the vanity and were told it was ready, however, when we arrived for pick up we were told it was NOT ready. I had made a special arrangement with my contractor to bring his truck for the pick up.
On Sunday September 6th Harry Greene came to our house again to re- measure for all cabinetry items as apparently our file had gone missing. Foolishly we gave him a check for an additional $700. After seemingly endless weekly visits to the showroom on Bermondsey and fruitless conversations with Guy ( General Manager) and Eddie (workshop employee) the vanity base, linen tower and medicine cabinet were scheduled for delivery on October 26th....did not arrive...so we asked for October 27th...again did not arrive...same on October 28th. Not once did we receive a phone call from Fairway Kitchens to explain the delay.
In late November Fairway Kitchens delivered the units but they were either incomplete or very poorly constructed. For instance, the crown molding on the linen tower was very loose and has now broken off; the shelving does not fit; facing on the second drawer is cracked; finish on the right side of the base is chipped;the door that was sent does not fit. Another example - the middle panel on the corner vanity is off center and the drawer panels do not close flush with the vanity frame. Yet another example - the panelling on the medicine cabinet door was installed horizontally rather than vertically and we were not provided with the glass shelves for this item.
The door knobs for all units were not what we had ordered and had to be replaced - this took two trips to the showroom. We are still awaiting soft closing hinges for all units.
We are completely dissatisfied with the product and the customer service at Fairway Kitchens. This company has delayed the completion of the renovation of a small bathroom by three months and counting.
Conversations with other customers indicate identical issues and frustrations.
We feel we have no other recourse but to hand this matter over to our lawyer.
We strongly suggest you carefully consider your options before signing a contract with Fairway Kitchens.

Sent to the Better Business Bureau:

On June 14, 2009, we signed a contract for the purchase, delivery, measurement and installation of custom kitchen cabinetry, complete with all necessary hardware, gables, doors, paneling, etc. with Fairway Kitchens. The total was $8200… $3300 cash deposit with $4100 to be paid on delivery of ALL materials, and $800 upon completion due Aug. 5- 14. It was falsely explained to us that ALL manufacturing is done onsite.

On Aug. 21, an installer (Dan) determined that Fairway’s measurements were incorrect and several boxes would need to be re-cut. Later that day, some cabinets were delivered. Several days went by with no correspondence so we went to Fairway in person. Guy, (acting mgr.) assured us everything would be resolved. He explained that all doors were produced by an off-site company. Temporary doors, together with the re-cut boxes and ALL remaining materials were to be delivered Sept. 1.

On Sept. 1, we received what was described to be ALL remaining materials and we paid our second installment of $4100. The cheque was cashed the next day.

On Sept. 5, the installer explained that complete installation would NOT be possible. Several boxes, gables, the wine rack, temporary doors, frosted glass, panels, and ALL kitchen hardware were missing. Several of the boxes were the wrong size, and others were not stained properly. He also warned that part of Fairway’s design could not work and would render the cabinet structurally unsound. From what WAS installed, we were unhappy with the quality of the product we received as well as the lack of customer service. Cuts were poorly made, corners were nicked and some edge-banding was already peeling off. All cabinets were hung at the wrong height. We asked to speak to the owner several times but were flat out refused. On Sept. 26, we emailed, faxed, and personally delivered a letter to the owner explaining our experience. We were later told that our letter had been received, but remained deliberately unread. Futhermore, we asked for a written response but never received one. One further letter produced the same result.

To summarize our experience over the next 3 months, we called or visited Fairway every other day. We were given the run around with promises un-kept, phone calls unreturned and work not initiated. We scheduled many install dates which never occurred. Installers didn’t show up and no phone call would be received. We missed several days of work awaiting Fairway personelle.

Once, while sitting in front of Guy, he went so far as to fake a call to a vendor, giving us the impression that he had made our order. We later called that vendor and discovered that no order had been placed. We feel betrayed, hurt, let down and very angry at having been <told> repeatedly. After all these months, the replacement doors still haven’t been ordered.

We’ve met other dissatisfied customers and learnt that there are 27 unfinished Fairway kitchens. Fairway has tens of thousands of dollars in deposits. It pains us to think how many people are suffering as a result of their business practices.

To date, we’ve had Fairway at our house for 13 measures and 6 installation attempts. No permanent solution has been found and we’re tired of living without a kitchen. We’ve been awaiting a kitchen for 7 months and paid $7400+int. We’ve been forced to eat out and take on higher food costs. We’ve wasted many phone minutes and gas, not to mention our time and negative emotion. We’re tired of waking up to face yet another day without a place to prepare a meal.

We want to inform the BBB and the public of our experience in hope that no more families will be affected by Fairway Kitchens. We see no value in continuing our business with them for we’ve tried everything. We have given them ample time and patience to complete their contract. They’ve failed us completely and it's time to move on. We need to focus on getting our money back and choosing a more competent company to get a kitchen.

I had my kitchen order put through 4 months ago and not only was I told that measurements were done the first time the rep visited, measurements had to be re-done on two other separate occasions. That was the start of the problems yet to come.
When it was finally installed the entire kitchen had to be returned as it did not fit - the measurements were all wrong! Most to all pieces were not all wrapped. Several of the boards were damaged or nicked. Even the countertops were a mess.

I spoke with Fairway several times and was told and promised on several instances that it would be installed on a certain date and all would be in order.

I was given the run around for another 2 months thereafter and had to take several days off work while waiting for them to show up to fix the issues, which on more than half the time, they never did show up and never even had the decency to call to advise. I had to call them!!

This has caused a LARGE amount of stress. Not only did they not show up on the day they said they would, they told me to be patient. This was their way of stringing me along and keeping my large deposit.
Do NOT Trust this company. The owner, people who work there are all incompetent!!!
Do major reference checks before deciding on a big project like this and always get everything in writing; including an actual installation date.
Good luck.. I hope the above review will help you in making an informed decision on whichever company that may do your next project, but Fairway is anything but a reputable company to invest your time, money or sanity in. They're just not worth it.

fairway has updated their showroom but not their webpage yet to reflect the amazing changes to the kitchens shown in the showroom.

i thus went in and found that the only reason i could not decide upon
a design swiftly was there were so many and beautiful to chose from
after finally arriving at a decision, i was thrilled with everything
they offered- from the personal service to the final installation
and after sales service. i do not hesitate to recommend this
small but metyiculous business to anyone.

Fairway was recommended by a friend for the kitchen we redid in our first house. We met with their designer and then had the same person come to the house to take exacting measurements. The cabinets did take several weeks longer to arrive than promised, but the product spoke for itself. The maple cabinets looked fantastic and the installer was quick, very accurate and very clean. We had compared prices and no-one could come close to what Fairway was charging(we removed the old cabinets ourselves to save a few $$). We have since bought another home and Fairway just recently installed a new kitchen as well as two bathrooms. All look amazing and we are very pleased. The designer came to the house several times to ensure proper measurements which was very reassuring to us. The only negative I think worth mentioning was that when we made some changes in the kitchen layout, the price went up more than we thought it would. Granted we did this after production of the cabinets had begun, so I can somewhat understand. Would not hesitate to use them again and would gladly recommend them to anyone needing new kitchen/bathroom cabinets. (*Wish they were closer rather than east of the DVP)
