Warning!!!

The moving company did not honour the prior agreed upon pick up date for our load to go to Calgary from Ontario.
We are writing this as a warning for people who are considering using this company for their moving needs. The company we had agreed to using was called Multi City Moving and Storage Inc. We had emailed with them back and forth (with Nicole) and on Nov 22, 2013, we sent a deposit of $150 on our Mastercard(over the phone) in good faith that we had a contract between our 2 parties that they would come pick up our load on Dec 12, 2013 and ship it to Calgary to be there Jan.1, 2014. We had this all arranged over a month before our intended moving date and thought that they would honour their end of the deal since we paid a deposit. I received a confirmation of payment email from Nicole on Nov 22, 2013 that our payment was received and that one of their reps would be in contact with us a day in advance to let us know when the driver would be at our house.
On Dec. 10, we had received no contact from the company so we called them and to our dismay, Nicole told me that they had no drivers available to come pick up the load until Dec.22, which would be a week later than originally agreed upon. We had flights booked on Dec.15 to fly out of Ontario and we had to drive our family of 4 down to Toronto, and we had tenants moving into the house in South Porcupine starting Dec. 15. Everything was planned accordingly and we had to get all our stuff out of the house.We were relocating from Ontario to Alberta. This was totally unacceptable, this left us scrambling with so much stress trying to find a new across country moving company with only 2 days left.
We kept calling the company trying to get an explanation, compensation and refund of our deposit, only to have them say that it was out of their hands and I had to talk to the owner. I called several times the next day, and the owner was never available. Nicole would also not answer my calls and I kept leaving messages with the receptionist. Finally I decided to find another moving company on my own and it ended up to be more than double of what we orginally budgeted for. We are extremely dissatisfied with the service at Multi City Moving and for the way they handled our situation. Everything was turned around so that they made it seem like it was our fault for what happened. I asked for the deposit back and they told me because it was taking us so long to decide what to do about the situation that they could no longer give us back our deposit. I was shocked. Finally Megan said they would have to check with management and get back to me. In the end they did refund our deposit 2 weeks later. But no other attempts were made to help us find other arrangements, compensate us for the stress caused or even apologize for their mistake. We are still very frustrated and upset about this and hope that they will make amends with us. (Less)
