Basement bathroon reno

We got Gino to rip out our old dingy basement washroom and build us our dream bathroom. This was our first major reno and having seen too many bathroom reno disasters on HGTV, we were nervous about entrusting this project to just anyone. So we read some reviews on Homestarts and decided on Gino. The project involved moving a wall, ripping out the existing concrete floor, moving the toilet and installing new drains, installing new plumbing for the thermostatic shower, vanity faucets, installing underfloor heating, tiling the floor, shower and walls, and installing various light fixtires and other fixtures. We had very limited space available and Gino was very helpful with advice on how we were going to make this project work. Him and Leo were just exceptional in the detail that was required, they completed the project within the time frame, under budget and delivered the highest quality and workmanship. My bathroom is the envy of all my friends and neighbors and I'd like to share a few pictures with you. I would recommend Gino to anyone, and plan to call on him for a number of other projects in the future.

Kitchen renovation including insulation, window installation, wall removal

Gino was hired to renovate our tiny existing kitchen including demolition down to the studs, insulating, re-sizing an existing window, bricking up an existing, removal of an existing wall, drywalling, tiling, electrical work, etc.. During this time, he was communicative, on time and very tidy with his workspace. His recommendations for cabinetmakers, tile, lighting & sink supply stores truly helped make the renovation experience smooth and relatively painless.

We would be happy to recommend his services to others looking at similar projects.

Structural Repairs, Complete Replacement and Restoration of Exterior Front Porch and Balcony of Victorian High Park Home

Stumpo Contracting did a fantastic job on the exterior of our home. They assisted with design decisions, were on time with project completion, kept to the quoted estimate, and kept the work area clean at the end of each work day. Gino’s professionalism, communication skills and honesty are exceptional and were greatly appreciated throughout the construction process. We loved his great ideas, reliability, and complete follow through (he came back to touch up a couple of times, no questions asked). The workmanship and restoration of our front porch and balcony far exceeded our expectations. We are extremely happy with the finished product and highly recommend Stumpo Contracting. Thanks Gino!

Plumbing leak

Locating a plumbing leak. Due to a leak in our master shower, which re-directed down to my main family room ceiling, we immediately had to contact someone who could assist us in the right direction. Through a friend, someone had mentioned Gino at Stumpo Contracting so I opted to call and he came that same day. He assessed the problem and gave us some options. He gave his opinion since he had to fix the plumbing, he recommended to put potlights throughout the main ceiling and in the kitchen area. Prior to doing the work, he mentioend it would be wise to remove all the stucco on the ceiling since he had to replace the existing drywall. Gino fixed the leak in the master washroom and we opted to put a budet to make it a 5 piece washroom. It was indeed a tremendous turnout both within our budget and for the design of the lighting. Anyone who is considering a good contractor, I would highly recommend Stumpo Contracting. Great job done! Grazie mille!

Renovating a Room

After my youngest went off to University I decided to renovate the big room my 2 sons shared and take it over for myself. As a single mom on a tight budget I was first going to only drywall over the old stuff. Gino told me what a bad idea that would be and he was right. I had him remove all the old drywall and ceiling. He reframed the walls, put in new insualtion in the walls and roof and then put on new drywall and a ceiling. He also installed 6 potlights and a ceiling fan/light. He taped and sanded all the drywall so it was ready for priming. He did an excellent job and cleaned up all the mess. His crew was friendly and professional and the job ended up only costing $5,000. This winter I noticed a huge difference in how much warmer this north facing room is.

Total gut job of 2 apartment house

We bought a 3 unit house that looked OK, but we knew it needed a lot of work and we had a tight deadline - the previous owners had used it as an investment property and had only done the bare minimum of maintenance.

We hired Gino as he was one of the few contractors who returned our call and actually came to the house to assess the workload (he was also one of the few who didn't tell us it wasn't worth it). I think he thought we were insane for the amount of work that had to be done and the tight time frame we had (approx 2 1/2 mths), but he was nice enough not to say it right away!

In just under 3 months (there was a 3 week delay due to Home Depot messing up our flooring order) - Gino and his team gutted the 2 apartments and turned them from Blah into Wow.

Everything was ripped back to the studs - and we started from scratch - from small rooms to very open concept - new wiring, new floors (evened out and installed vinyl), 2 new bathrooms, new doors, a few new windows, and 1 kitchen completed, and 1 roughed in (we couldn't totally decide what we wanted there). He accommodated all our changes and kept his sense of humour most of the time (don't ask him about rangehoods - it took 5 different attempts, with 5 different hoods to get one that had a motor, fit the space, and worked). :-)

And even though we totally blew past our originally budget - we enjoyed working with him immensely and hope to have the next budget together soon to call him back in to finish the exterior work that needs to be done!

Basement Bathroom & Exterior Work

Gino was a great contractor! Hired Stumpo to do some renovations on our basement bathroom. Included tearing up old floor, leveling concrete, laying new tiles, new door installation, framing & drywall. He also rebuilt an exterior wall for me and corrected some 'not to code' plumbing issues. He came in on budget, always answered or returned my phone calls. He and his father in law worked all day for 8 days straight to get all of my jobs done. Will definately be hiring Stumpo Contracting again!

Bathroom (old house and new house)

Gino was the ONLY contractor I've EVER dealt with who arrived ON TIME each day, worked like a DOG, stayed on budget and completed the job exactly when he said he would. He did our bathroom in our old house and our new house. With our recent bathroom renovation we picked tile that Gino felt would not look good. We trusted him to select a new tile he thought would be better and when we walked in and saw what he chose our jaws hit the ground...beautiful! Gino is our man...he's on speed dial!!!

Gutting of main floor, framing, insulation, drywall, tiling, plumbing, trim work

Gino was enlisted to help us make some cosmetic changes to our newly purchased "older" home. The job soon ballooned into a much bigger project than we initially anticipated due to the run down state of the building. Throughout the process Gino helped advise us and offered thoughtful and creative solutions to some of the problems we encountered. He charged us a fair price for the work that was done, and was extremely reliable in finishing the job on a tight timeline. From this experience we would recommend others obtain a consultation with Stumpo Contracting.
