Lost $17,000, Unreliable, Persistent Issues, Shoddy Work, and Poor Communication

The job:

The basement started taking in water from the ground after a heavy rain.
Their price was in the middle of 3 quotes. They showed up quickly. Lots of pressure to sign the contract and start the work, which we wanted to do because the basement was taking in water.

August 17, just 2 days after they took the remaining payment and provided the warranty, the basement got wet in the same spot and sinkholes formed. Best Roofer & Renovation was notified the same day.
It took almost 1.5 months for their laborers to come September 26 after several texts and phone calls. We don't know what was done that day.

By October 29 it had rained again and the basement got wet in the same spot. Best Roofer & Renovation was notified via email and asking what the next steps are. They continued to tell us by text that someone would be coming to resolve the issue until November 21.

We are now engaging with new companies to redo the work. They have all indicated that the blue shield waterproofing was not adhered like it should be, and that the dimple plastic shield is installed backwards.

In Addition

When the ground was dug they said there was a structural issue at the rear corner of the house that would cost $10,000 to fix. They said they would provide a diagram and photos of the work, and never did. They claim it was completed in one day, but originally said it was 5 days worth of effort.

Their contract says that the space will be fully cleaned. They left 4 large piles of soil, 2 piles of rubble, and concrete dust on everything, .

If you lookup delta-ms waterproofing on youtube you will see that the dimples are meant to be facing the house to keep soil away. This was installed facing out. The blue skin is meant to be adhered to the wall, and this is clearly not.

Their claim in the response that the bricks are leaking is false. We have video of rainy weather and this wall stays dry.

Approximate cost of services:
$17,000.00
