This contractor was engaged to redo my 25 yr. old flat roof for a contract price of $4,500 including HST. No sooner had I informed them that I was giving them the contract, much to my surprise, they were at my property and ready to start work. I was taken aback, but I allowed them to start the job. After about 2 hours, during which time they had completely removed all of the old membrane, leaving my house totally exposed to any rainfall that might happen, they approached me showing me photos and videos of what appeared to be rotten wood underlay, saying that in all likelihood the whole support structure of the roof would be rotting too. According to Ready to Roof, I was told I would probably have to replace all support beams or , at least "sister them" with a set of new beams. Of course, I asked what the new bottom line was. Up to $ 40,000, I was told. It took me about 15 minutes to decide (after getting over the shock) to terminate the contract.
Ready to Roof told me I wouldn't be able to find another contractor to finish this job for under $20,000. Well I have found a good contractor to complete the job for $7,500 which included a premium because they had to assemble an "emergency" crew with less than 24 hours notice.
In the end, I was left feeling that Ready to Roof had tried to purposely deceive me and get this exhorbitant new fee out of me. They were very poor at communicating with me and I would say they were dishonest. I was truly upset and I could not, in good conscience, recommend them to anyone.
