NC51 Concrete Foundation for attached garage

We hired Rommens Construction to remove and replace the existing foundation under our attached double car garage. The process was very unsatisfactory at many levels. The quote pricing was confusing, as was the billing. No clear contract was presented or signed. We accommodated delays in our project as we were subordinate to larger projects coming first, delaying the overall process substantially. The General Contractor who completed the build noted the frost walls were not square or perpendicular to the existing home, the 2 overhead and human door cut outs were not correctly located and needed to be patched afterwards to ensure no mice can gain entry into the space. The top of the frost walls were not level, and the frost walls beside the stairs to the residence are not vertical, but lean outwards. I was on site when the stair forms were removed. Shortly after that I informed Rommens they were not acceptable. Bill came to review and told me to my face that although they were not cosmetically pretty they would pass any code inspection. We had an inspection completed by Pro-SCO and the stairs do not meet code in many ways. The treads are not level, the rises are not consistent, nor do they fall within National Building Code guidelines, the frost walls are not vertical, nor are they perpendicular to the home resulting in the landing having no 90 degree corners. I've included a summary of the report with photos below. We offered to settle with Roomens but have heard nothing from them since that time. The stairs are unfinished. To make the matter more challenging we had an additional concrete project priced by Rommens and another reputable concrete company in Alberta. Rommens quote came in at $14,000.00 versus their competitor's quote of $8400.00 for the exact same scope of work. How much did we over pay? How much has the Siksika Nation overpaid by utilizing this dishonourable company? In conclusion, I will never use this company again. I will never recommend them, and if given the chance will share my experience with anyone considering hiring them.
