JOB DOCTOR GENERAL CONTRACTING

Our quest for a contractor started in July 2015. We wanted to remodel our basement from a 1970 vintage dungeon to a modern day brightly lit, warm, comfortable recreation room and office. We interviewed a number of Ottawa-area contractors ranging in size from a one man operation to a large organization. By late November we had decided that none of them met our criteria. We sourced information from the Better Business Bureau, talked to previous clients, and met with Job Doctor. Little did we know at the time in early December that the title Job Doctor would be synonymous with our basement renovation.
We explained to Job Doctor what we wanted, and early in December they returned a detailed cost estimate for the work to be undertaken. After some discussion with a revised work expectation, the final work plan was prepared and approved. Work started on the day of Ottawas largest snow storm of the year (over 50 cms). Twenty six days later, we had a new living space complete with a rejuvenated recreation room, bathroom, laundry room, and home office.
However, during construction a number of issues were discovered as a result of the demolition. A hole as big as a heat vent was found in the main floor wall, causing condensation and black mould abundant in the area where the home office was to be located. Job Doctors craftsmen were not fazed; the cause was quickly determined in addition to what was needed to resolve these issues. While doing the corrective work, dry rot was also discovered on several load bearing exterior walls. As the title suggests Job Doctor knew what to do and how to do it, and quickly addressed these problems.
We found the Job Doctor Crew worked hard and were very respectful. Their motto is the customer is always right and they were eager to address ideas that developed during each phase of the activity. Issues that were major in our minds were taken on and resolved quickly without major consequences in terms of budget or timelines. We found that the office staff seemed to know when to call, check on things, and make sure outstanding items were addressed.
In the end our work budget was extended due to the issues identified. However, we also had the confidence in Job Doctor to complete the needed repairs to the exterior walls. No challenges were beyond the skill set of Job Doctor and the remedies were executed with a surgeons precision. When delivery items with suppliers were less than favourable, Job Doctor was there supporting us until the outstanding items were resolved to our satisfaction. We recommend their services and as other clients have stated, we will use their skill set again.
