New wiring and installation of new pot lights/fixtures
We hired Volt Maintenance & Contracting (Mike & Luigi) to run new lines, install new outlets and install new pot lights/fixtures. I tried to see if they had any reviews online from past customers , but they did not seem to have an online footprint. This made me a bit weary but since they were referred to us by friends who had used them, I figured I would give them a shot. They were prompt in coming to do a walk-thru and providing a quote. One thing I remember discussing was the running of wires on the exterior of my house and the use of conduit to conceal them. After hiring them, I later find out that the use of such materials was not included in the quote and it would cost another $300. They ended up charging me $100 instead to cover the materials. I dont think what they used would have cost $100, but for arguments sake I agreed to pay the extra $100. The job was to be completed in 2 visits.
The GOOD:
-Quick to reply to my text messages (most times) during the process
-kept me informed when they were running late
The BAD:
-Workmanship is poor:
exposed terminals of the receptacles have not been taped with electrical tape, outdoor light fixture was installed crooked, some garbage was left scattered around my house and property, metal octagon box was not installed flush with the ceiling (so when you go to install a pendant light there is a gap on one side between the canopy and ceiling, wires to the breaker panel were left unsecured
-They werent mindful of the customer's environment in which they were working in. To be more specific, tools were placed on top of our fairly new appliance (that was moved out of their way during their 1st visit). Before their 2nd visit I had taken the iniative to protect our appliance by placing a towel on top to prevent any scratches, but did not move it this time as it was not necessary. A couple days after they completed the job, I find that the top of my appliance had been badly dented. At the end of the day on their final visit I was more worried about inspecting the condition of our brand new kitchen cabinets that I neglected to thoroughly check other areas of the house. I called them and told them what I had discovered. They denied it was them who had caused the dents. Basically it became my word against theirs. All I know is no one went into that room with the appliance after they left that day. Lesson learned and would have to try and move on. However, what makes this situation WORSE is their customer service after job completion and an issue arises. You can sense a combative attitude from one of the electricians and the other just completely ignores you. At no point was I ever unreasonable or disrespectful towards them (throughout and after the job). A GOOD electrician would still try to foster a good relationship with the customer even when an issue is at a crossroads. If problems ever occur with their work, I do not feel comfortable contacting them from this point forward. It is for this that I do not recommend this company.
