It has been quite challenging to make a decision whether to get our tub reglazed or purchase a new bath tub and have it installed. the challenge we faced was not being able to find a contractor that is available to come in and do a small job. Contractors/construction business have gone crazy and everyone is so busy. Therefore we opted to get our tub reglazed. It was also tough to find someone available to come in. That said we did find a company that priced us $400 + tax. The company was Reglaze Kings. The person I spoke with was Sam. I believe the owner. My problem at this point isn't even that the job was poorly done, but that they went MIA and won't return my calls or texts or emails.
What happened was, after the tub was reglazed, they wanted full payment and I paid. They asked me to give it 48 hours then go in and remove the taping around the tub and faucets. You can't breath in the place. The vapors are deadly. I left the home and gave it the 48 hours as directed to dry and kept the windows open to air out. I was asked to go back and remove the tape all around the tub once it was dry. I did that and what I found is that the spray painting/reglazing work done was rough, bubbly and streaks of paint that dripped on the side tub was visible and rough to the touch. So I contacted the company Reglaze Kings and spoke with Sam, the same person I contracted with. He said, oh that happens, but we come back and buff it and give it a quick coat. He said he would send his worker back out. He committed to coming by on a Tuesday which was a few days later. I waited and waited and to my surprise he never showed and then started ignoring my calls/text/emails and ghosted me.
Reglaze Kings states they guarantee complete restoration of acrylic (plastic), fiberglass, cultured marble, and porcelain bathtubs by using our proprietary non-acid reglazing process." Google search states 5 year guarantee.
BALONEY! They ghost you as soon as they get paid.
Buyer Beware!
BEFORE YOU GIVE ANY WORK OUT, ENSURE THEY HAVE A PRESENCE ON LINE AND YOU CAN FIND AN ADDRESS WITH A POSTAL CODE.
When they don't have this, you can't track them down.
Make sure you actually call the number you found on line under the company and if you get a secretary you can ask some questions, if not, it is a one man shop who could stiff you in the end and ghost you.
Ask how long they have been in business, then look at their website and see if there are any inconsistencies. If you catch them not telling the truth or they misrepresented themselves. It's a precursor of challenges to follow if the job isn't exactly what you negotiated. Don't deal with them.
When you get an estimate, make sure their is an address on the letterhead/estimate sheet. If they don't, this tells me they don't want to provide this information because they know they can then be tracked.
And they know they do poor work and have many complaints they don't care about. After all they got your money already. Remember Possession is 9/10th of the law. If there is an address match it to the website, ensure you get a postal code.
You can then match the postal code to the website and letterhead. But go one step further, go to your url and type in the postal code. It will show you a visual picture of where they are. it will also give you the actual address for the business. If the street doesn't match their website or letterhead. I RECOMMEND YOU DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. Of course if it is just a number or letter mistake, no worries, you may justify it, but if not BEWARE.
Then go to Google maps and check the address out, see the pictures, street etc. This can give you an idea if they are a ligit or not or even if the address online is fake. Match this address with their estimate/letterhead.
DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOUR CONTRACTOR COMES BACK TO REMOVE THE TAPING AND IT IS DRIED AND THE JOB IS 100% COMPLETE.
THIS IS SO THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY INSPECT THE FINAL PRODUCT WHEN IT IS DRIED AND TAPING REMOVED AND THEY ARE PRESENT. IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY DON'T PAY THEM.
