Imagine Deck

I have asked Emin to repair a footing of my elevated wooden deck. This footing had been subject to ice heaving every winter, and had raised my deck about 3 inches at one spot. I think he has completed the work successfully. My assessment of his work is as follow:
Pros:
He has experience with deck, and has common tools like spades and electric jack hammer. He was willing to tackle a job which he did not do before. In addition he has an enthusiastic assistant (Ali) who was quite helpful during the project and cleaning up the work site afterwards.
Cons:
1. I had to call him 2 times to fix a day for the work.
2. Price charged was somewhat high, which I estimate is about $75/h/person.
3. Apparently he did not bring sufficient materials for the job. In addition to providing a bag of crush stone, I had to buy an extra bag of limestone screening afterwards to securely level up a patio slab.
4. I hope he had the patience to explain to the customer about his proposed deviation from the discussed plan. Instead of using two builders’ struts to temporarily support the deck while working on the footing, he proposed to use 3 pieces of wood together with a car jack. I think if he had spent a few minutes to explain to me, I would have happily accepted his alternative method. However instead, he said, “I am not earning money in this job, if you don’t like it, I can leave right now” What a way to deal with customer! Anyway, after some conversations during the job, I felt he is still a friendly person.
