WOW, what a stellar experience with Monte-Leo redoing our deck last week and had to write a review. We had reached out to about half a dozen deck contractors from HomeStars to redo our deck and just from the quote process, they were already vastly superior to the others. The other contractors seemed lazy and either did facetime or requested that we provide exact measurements to give us, what ended up being unrealistic astronomical quotes. You think a site visit would be the norm but I guess not! Some contracts wouldn't even take the job it it was under $30K. We knew that in this period of high demand for this kind of work, finding a good contractor willing to take on a small project would be hard but we lucked out.

Yosef came by the house, took a look at what was required and gave us a break down estimate based on his visit. He was friendly, knowledgeable and definitely knew what he was talking about. After we agreed to the work days later, he returned to take some additional measurements before ordering the composite and brought samples for us to choose from.

The demolition ended being a lot more difficult than a regular back deck because we live in downtown Toronto in a house with no side access to the back deck. Yosef and his team had to go back and forth through the house to access the back deck. This was especially problematic because we have two young babies who play on the floor. They were so considerate going in and out of the house, honestly the best guests weve had since the pandemic lol

After lifting up the old wood, they found the previous deck to be a shoddy job, requiring some additional supporting joist work. The team cleared out all the dirt underneath and Yosef explained what was needed and quoted reasonable additional costs for the joist work. They even fixed the drainage and drain issue and did some foundation work to make sure everything was laid out correctly, keeping us in the loop the whole time and clearly explaining what was going on. From the demolition, to the installation, the contractors were so polite, professional and meticulous.

Dont go to anyone else!!! These guys are the real deal.
