Made a hole in my water line and damaged my property!
I hired Peyman to install an EV Charger in my garage. To connect the switchboard in the basement to the garage, he ran a conduit through the wall between the garage and a corner room in my basement. It is a room that we don't go to very often and is used for storage purposes.
When after a month I went to the room, and I noticed the carpets are all soaked and the walls and baseboards are wet and molded. To find out the source of the water leakage, I cut through my wall. I was shocked to see that Peyman had passed the conduit right through my return water pipe. When I contacted to inform him about the situation and asked him to come to check out the scale of the damage and propose a solution to resolve the issue. He didn't answer my calls and simply responded to my text messages by saying call a plumber! I messaged him that it is not just plumbing, my drywalls, baseboards, and insulations are all molded. Plus mentioned that we have minimized our water usage cause we don't know where that pipe is connected to, but he didn't respond.
The next day, I reassessed the situation to get at least the water pipe fixed so that my family would be able to use water with peace of mind. I realized since the pipe is so close to the wall, without moving the conduit, fixing the pipe is not possible. I texted Peyman and asked him to come and at least move the conduit but again got no response!
Peyman keeps ignoring my calls and once I called with another phone number he answered the phone but once I introduced myself he simply hung up on me! ...
Fast forward, after 3 months, with some pressure from ESA, Peyman came to see my house and after checking the damage, got me in touch with his insurance to submit my claim. I submitted the paperwork and documentation to his insurance and they agreed to pay for the damage. This resolution could simply be reached much faster if Peyman had returned my call the first time. I personally think accidents like this are part of the business, the important thing is how a contractor deals with it professionally.
