Polaron

We approached Polaron after asking neighbours in our community who they choose as their Solar installer and if they would recommend them. The information on system design and cost provided by the polaron salesperson and technical department was in line with information found in Government sources and online sites for sustainable energy such as energyhub.org.

Polaron provided a detailed proposal and our contract included Polaron looking after site inspections and working with the local utility to set up net metering. Our Polaron mobile phone app shows us the energy created at any point in time; as well, it allows us to compare the energy created by our solar system with the net metering energy readings on our monthly utility invoice. From the system startup in November 2022 until now, our system generated as much electricity as projected by Polaron. At this pace our solar system will generate enough electricity annually to cover our annual electricity usage.

In order to obtain the benefits of provincial and federal rebates and grants, pre and post retrofit EnerGuide evaluations are required. Unfortunately, the wait time to get an efficiency PEI Network of Excellence Contractor to conduct these evaluations was fairly long.

Polaron also assisted in the application process of obtaining the provincial incentives and federal grants available for our solar energy system.

Based on available literature, in our view Prince Edward Island is one of the most favourable locations in Canada to generate residential solar electricity due to a number of factors such as; sunlight levels, electricity costs, installation costs, PEI net metering program and available provincial rebates.
