MJL Construction

We contracted MJL Construction in June 2020 to build a new, pressure treated, 16x16, two-level backyard deck, as well as replace a pre-existing 85’ shared neighbour fence.
Mike was consistently responsive to our inquiries and receptive to our questions and needs. He took the time to listen and supported any changes we made – even those that were likely a little last minute.
During the project Mike maintained a clean site and ensured things were tidy at the end of each day’s work. The end result exceeded our expectations. The quality of the materials and Mike’s craftsmanship were excellent. This deck and fence will be here on our property long after we are! I’d also like to note that our construction projects took place during the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. Mike and his crew were able to maintain physical distancing requirements ensuring the safety of our family, for which we are extremely appreciative.

We hired Mike through a friend of my son’s friend. Mike was in the middle of the three quotes we got and decided to go with him. Very pleased we did!
Our project wasn’t a big one but he gave us the attention in spite of being a smaller job. We basically showed him a photo of a gate we liked and he built it pretty much exactly how we wanted it.
Two days all in at our home.
We would hire him anytime and certainly recommend him for any work needed.

Mike did a great job on our front porch deck product. His pricing was fair, and there were no surprises part way into the project. The project stayed on budget and finished ahead of schedule. Micheal worked extremely hard and efficiently and completed the entire job in 2 days. We are entirely satisfied with the work that was completed and would recommend him without hesitation.

Mike started work to help rebuild a century old garage which once was a carriage house. It was quickly determined that the structure and foundation where not worthy of salvaging. Mike worked creatively to find solutions and the end result is exceptional.

We met with MJL and described generally what we were looking for in terms of a Pergola for the deck and hot tub area in our back yard. MJL took it from there from design to material selection and construction. In very short order we had a finished pergola that exceeded our expectations-a highly finished product with a classy custom look that sets our yard apart. Mike completed the fence on time, on budget and the final product was stunning. Him and his crew were extremely professional. They cleaned everything up nicely and worked the weekend to get it completed quickly as we have a pool.

Michael is an extremely hard worker. He removed the old decking, taking away the rotting debris to keep the area clean, which was important because our dogs still needed to have access to the area. We discussed several options regarding size, stairway access to the backyard and design; Mike came up with drawings that suited our needs. Mike and his crew have a super work ethic, on the job early and worked the whole day. Our deck was completed in the time he had quoted. After 25 years of using a narrow , metal circular stairway, it's a pleasure to be able to walk out to the garden from our wide wooden stairway. Our deck can now easily accommodate 8-10 for dinners as well as a BBQ and plants. Thanks a million MJL Woodworking!!!
