Galveston Construction Goes By The Book And Doesn't Cut Corners
I initially hired Galveston Construction to repair the front door and repair the sagging deck. I asked Victor to go and check the upper bathroom, where he discovered rot under the bathroom window. I initially wanted to hire him for a bathroom renovation, but after discovering the rot under the window beside the shower head, he advised me to call Servicemaster as they have a mould abatement licence, which I did. He and his crew refused to touch it until Servicemaster was finished. Fortunately, there wasn't any mould.
Victor goes by the book and and both he and his crew won't touch electrical or plumbing, insisting on hiring licenced plumbers and electricians, whereas other contractors will do it themselves without licences. However, the bathroom renovation got too costly for me, so I did it myself, and hired plumbers and electricians.
Instead, Victor acted as a consultant to guide me along in the bathroom renovation, preventing me from making costly mistakes. Homeowners have to realize that a job costs what it costs, and the highest estimate is usually the best one. Labour is expensive, and materials cost the same for all contractors. Contractors can only reduce costs by cutting corners. I recommend Victor both as a contractor and even a consultant for those do-it-yourself types. However, there's very few contractors who will act as consultants.
