I hired Chris from Tarrant Roofing for snow removal at a rental home of mine. Nice enough guy when he came by to have a look at the property. He gave me a quote of $500.00 for the season. (which I felt was a little steep)but it seemed like the going rate. He told me he had 70 clients and serviced these homes on his own due to the unreliable nature of hiring others. I asked how he ever got this done on his own and he said it was very easy. A contract came quickly stating the he was responsible for salt and any damage to the property. Unreliable isn't the word for him. I came by the property and noticed the gate to the backyard was propped up in place and off the hinges. He did not inform me of this. I was on his case for three weeks before he came to fix it. He knew there were dogs in the backyard. I also noticed my private stash of salt in a bin was all used up. Again i questioned him on using my salt when it was supposed to be supplied. He said he ran out of salt (what snow removal company runs out of salt?) and that he would drop a bag off. There wasn't one snow fall that I didn't chase him and ask him where he was and when he was coming by. It was always I'm on another job that isn't snow removal. Needless to say the tenant had already shovelled so it was all pointless.
After the last snow when I chased him for the last time I terminated the contract asking for $200.00 dollars of my money to be refunded. I have not heard a word from him. NOTHING. Not an I'm sorry I screwed up and of course you deserve a refund. This is the last time I will pay for anything up front although most snow removal companies seem to work this way.
I can only imagine the kind of roofing job he does. SO DISAPPOINTING.
