ALERT!!! AVOID AT ANY COST!!
So we found this guy through bark.com and hired him to get our new home painted before we moved in. Gave us a quote on Aug 26, of $1850 plus extra for paint. Asked us to pay 850 in advance before start of work, which we did. On Aug 28 we gave him the lockbox code to get started with the "prep work" which when we visited/ moved in on Aug 29 turned out to be a shoddy work of covering up the entire floor with paper and tape!
He said we should go for top of the line Aura from Benjamin Moore and charged us $766 for the same.
He didn't turn up for work the entire week ,ie from Aug 30 to Sep 5. The reason cited for this by him was that he had messed up the paint job at some other place and that he had to redo all the work! By then it was becoming very uncomfortable and unpleasant for us after moving to our new home , living out of our suitcases, with the entire floor covered with paper and tape! He did turn up on 6th of Sep 9 am,labor Day which was shocking. All that he did from 9 to 2 was covering all the holes in the walls with putty! The next day on the 7 Sept he again turned up at about 10-10.30 and started painting all the window trims like an amateur, with a ton of paint drips and brush strokes! He also make a mess of my dark hard wood staircase with white paint sprays!
He didn't even have the sense to sand off the putty from the trims which he had done the previous day! Got all the pics of every single disaster he has committed!
By then I knew this guy was not a professional and simply asked him by when he is targeting to complete the entire job. To which his arrogant reply was that he's doing his best possible job without any help and asked me to stop asking this question of when the job'd be finished! I was naturally taken aback a little as to why he's showing so much of attitude in this tone.
Later that day, after he left, something made me call up Harveys Paint and wall paper, Etobicoke from where he procured the paints, just to to get a background of this guy! To my horror and disbelief there were more stories of his similar incidents I immediately called up this guy again to tell him firmly that I'd need the job to be completed in the next couple of days as we had friends visiting us over during the weekend! His reply to that was let's terminate and cash out! He later called me to say that the work done so far was worth $970 and that he was ready to waive off $120 ! Wow what a wonderful Master stroke! He was claiming to have done work for 5 days, whereas there was only 3 days of shoddy work done !
I have been asking him for an invoice with clear split up of all the work done so far for the $970 that's he's claiming. He stopped responding to my texts and calls.

So this is how he functions- demands advance before start of work, then does some amateurish shoddy work with paint dripping all over, so much so that you are forced to terminate the contract. He then vanishes with the initial deposit!!

Stay away at any cost! For the damage that he has caused to my staircase and windows trims, and the mental trauma and anxiety caused, someone else would have sued him for hundreds of thousands of dollars!!

We went with Kev's painting services as he had done some work in the neighborhood. While his quote was very reasonable we found that his finishing work was lacking. Our dining area still has areas where the old paint peaks through and there are areas where he used a bit too much paint and this affected the finish. What was more disappointing was when we informed Kev of these concerns he was more concerned with receiving full payment for the job than addressing our concerns. All in all a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend his services based on this experience.

Kev was highly recommended by a friend who had recently completed a similar job to what I needed doing. I moved into an older home with a utility (vs finished) basement, but it was dingy and forlawn. Kevin and Mabel were easy to work with and very professional from the get go. No hidden costs, excellent workmanship, completed on time!. Wouldnt hesitate to use them again! Basement is now bright, fresh and clean.

The job involved restoring a bedroom ceiling where the paint had peeled off a large section. Kev's Painting was hired to plaster the ceiling area and small cracks in the bedroom, bathroom and hallway on the second floor.

Excellent attention to detail, cleanup, and willing to discuss and address our questions. The work was done in a timely and professional manner with minimum disruption and dust.

We will be using them for future projects.

Would recommend Kev's Painting Services. Painted 2 one bedroom units and did extra work with not asking them to do.

Kevin and Mabel were easy to work with and very professional. The job started and finished exactly as per the schedule and quote. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to a friend.

Started as agreed upon, did prep work, worked steadily ever day until completion, and achieved satisfactory results
