We hired Shawn after seeing the good reviews regarding his service online. As new homebuyers he took advantage of us and made us provide him a cash deposit for his services. Once this was received he continually delayed providing us with permit drawings and finally sent us drawings that were incorrect. He did not correct the drawings and refused to release the drawings to us until he received the rest of his payment, offering no guarantee that the drawings would pass permit inspection. He should not be trusted with the structural integrity of someone’s home. It is clear that he does a poor job at best, and rushed our home inspection resulting in errors he refused to admit or correct. Please hire someone else that you can trust with your home, we hope that this review prevents people from having the same horrible experience we had and losing your money.

Shawn was only one of 3 people that picked up the phone on a stat holiday. Although 2 were willing to accommodate my urgent visit request I decided to go with him for a few reasons. As a woman calling he did not treat me as though I was an idiot. The others were so condescending to say the least. His price was similar to the others. Also he graciously met me before his scheduled job early morning. After visiting he made recommendations in regards to the load bearing wall. His sketch was provided promptly within 48 hours. He was readily available to answer my questions. I would use him again and would recommend him to others.

Structural projects can be intimidating for home owners and if your job isn't big enough, many engineers will turn you away. After meeting with several structural engineers and not getting a good feel about their commitment, or professionalism Shawn came over. His schedule was flexible, he was charismatic and easy going, showed genuine interest in what i wanted to accomplish and educated me as he went along throughout the house explaining my options. I would 100% recommend Shawn to anyone looking to get work done.

This was our first significant renovation, Shawn worked with us to develop the design and the structural plans for a large renovation of our 3 story Victorian home in downtown Toronto. His structural drawings submitted to the city were promptly approved. He guided us through the permit process and overseen the contractors during the construction work to ensure the work quality and their work is according to the plans. When we had questions or concerns he was always accessible and more than willing to help. His pricing is quite fair and reasonable,

S.S. performed the structural engineering for my $4 million Toronto custom home. Using the architect's CAD files, Shawn was able to quickly create structural engineering drawings for footings, joists runs, steel beams and steel load-bearing posts. When on-site revisions to the layout of the home were required for a building permit amendment, Shawn showed up promptly to review the framing changes and draft the structural engineering changes and submit the application for the building permit amendment. I would highly recommend Shawn. His price is very reasonable and he knows his stuff.
