RENODUCK review
We wanted to update a dated old bathroom and fix a basement entrance. The bathroom was not in the basement though. It was on another floor so it required care going up and down the stairs. An old jacuzzi had to be removed (it was here when we moved in and never really used it). RenoDuck crew was very careful and neat all throughout the few weeks of work. The crew was very precise. RenoDuck's work process is very professional and methodical from initial visit by the quote consultant to the in-person design meeting to the project management platform they use, etc. We love the bathroom. Special thanks to Stass and his crew for this project.
The basement entrance project was more difficult in terms of what it entailed engineering wise and in the end we don't really like the solution as per city of Toronto code (sump pump system) which is really not under our control - nevertheless I wish I had known better what the result would be in the end (issues to do with water direction and drainage). Hopefully the structure will last (it was a new build because the old entrance was failing). Basement entrance and stairs were done with poured concrete and the drain is now connected to a sump pump inside the basement. If there's something I'd say to a prospective customer looking at a basement entrance with drain is to make sure the water direction and drainage of the proposed entrance is (studied and) explained clearly so as not to have surprises after the fact. With a big storm the sump pump works constantly (and we added a backup system after the two storms in July and August 2024) and the water was being expelled just outside the wall next to the walkout structure and creating flooding. We have a discharge hose solution (so water goes to the backyard's lawn) at the moment . Hopefully that will fix the current water direction issue.
We are now waiting to see how the system will work after its first winter and such.
Overall, what we liked best about RenoDuck as a contractor is that they do respond to concerns and questions and they try to address them in a timely manner. They do have project managers who oversee your project and when there is an issue they do respond. Special thanks here to Darius for always responding to our concerns.
