Some hiccups, but overall a great experience
I hired Marlon to redo our builder grade staircase. He provided a fair quote and showcased some of his other work to me which looked impressive. Marlon was very fair and honest throughout the job. The gentleman who did our stairs was named Freddy, and he was very courteous and worked very hard. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marlon or District Stairs. He completed the job as agreed and fixed any issues that came up during the job.
We explained how much we wanted to avoid dust in our house and we covered everything in tarp. They also made efforts to keep everything clean which is not easy with all the cutting and sanding.
One small hiccup is that Marlon brought the wrong pillars with him as we wanted a simpler design. However, the pillars he brought were actually more expensive and he honored the price of the pillars we requested in the first place.
Another hiccup was that we wanted to keep our waterfall banister. This was forgotten and a pillar was awkwardly placed where the waterfall previously was. Despite the misunderstanding, Marlon took the pillar out, repaired the effected stairs and installed the waterfall banister as we wanted.
The job ended up taking longer than expected because the builder grade stain was extremely hard to sand. Again, Marlon honored the price and Freddy did the work without complaint. Marlon even showed up to complete some of the finishings during a storm/blackout.
After the job was done we needed stain to touch up a small area of the staircase. It was difficult to connect with Marlon due to his travel schedule but he had someone leave it at the store for us to pickup at our convenience.
