In April, 2017 we hired Tyler, owner of Clayvale Contracting in Sterling to install a steel roof on our home. This was our experience. While doing the job Tyler seemed to be nice, adaptable and competent so we gave him the final payment on the last day of installation. That was our big mistake. Shortly after, we started finding many, many problems including a leaking skylight (hadn’t been leaking before), spaces between panels that would allow rain to run underneath, dented panels visible from the main entrance, sloppy mismatched colored caulking and many other little things. Since then we have spent months calling and e-mailing Tyler in an effort to get him to return and correct the problems. He rarely answered the phone and never returned our calls or e-mails. If we called from a friend’s phone however, he answered. In October we finally got a hold of him and he said he would come the following Sunday at 9 a.m. We called him on Saturday night to remind him and confirm but got no answer. 9 a.m. that Sunday came and went and despite more calls, we never heard from him again. Now my nearly 70-year-old husband is crawling around on the steel panels himself trying to fix the problems on our brand new $15,000 roof!
