Interlock driveway and porch

The team at canadian pro interlocking were very dedicated and efficient in their work, I would reccomend this company to all my friends and family.

I had a driveway extension, front porch and steps installed at my home. The work was very professional and the team had lots of knowledge to offer. I thank Joe and his team for improvements made to my home.

From start to finish the experience was pleasant and if I ever need more work done i will definitely be calling canadian pro interlocking again.

Excellent service

For starters, i want to say that my experience with this company was pleasent from beginning to end.

I called for a quote and was shedualed 3 days latter, when the date arrived the companies sales manager Harris arrived
on time and with a very easy going attitude. I believe Harris and the companies owner are related in some way, anyhow.

I put my faith into the comapny as i really liked harris, he explains everything in great detail and really made me and
my wife feel like we had a winner, after 5 estimates from different companies we pulled the trigger.

My neighbours had recently gotten their porch done in flag stone and i wanyted to do the same, but the company they chose turned
out to be very messy, the work was ok at best, and for the price they paid. No way.

So start day rolls around, i am met by Joe, Taras, and 2 other younger fellows. After a quick discussion and some paper work
taken care of the work began. I am a very picky person and i have to say i really like how these gentlmen handled themselves on
my property. I didnt have to ask them to stay off the grass, as their was no need to be there and i didnt want it dying while it
trys to grow, i was very pleased with that. At the end of the work day, everything explained to me in the morning had been
the way it was explained to me. I was told we would be at a certin point, and they got there, so pleased.
The next day they were back again at the same time, and once again the day went smooth.
the third day rolled around, that day was told to me to be completion day, and it was.
By the end of the day everything was cleaned up, there was no mess to complain about, the work looked fabulous and i have
already been recieving compliments from my neighbours, even though it has only been a few days. that makes me happy.

I have already handed out this companies contact to family, neighbours and friends.

After some saving i will have them back again , hopefully this year to give me some ideas to give me some space in my backyard,
where me and my family will be spending alot of time due to covid.

Thank you again Canadian Pro, it as a pleasure having you.

stay safe,

Jakub.

$14000 down the drain with terrible quality of work.

I want to keep this review brief and to the point. I will lay out the facts here supported by documentation, hundreds of text messages and unanswered phone calls and let you judge the professionalism, ethics and the quality of work of Canadian Pro Interlocking and Joe.
Something extremely important that I want to share before going into details is that Joe, the owner of the company will not finish the work unless you leave him a 5 star review. Since the payment structure is designed to be completely in his favor, you will have no choice but to meet his demands to simply finish the work. The quality of work is terrible and there is zero professionalism. In fact the entire interaction with Joe was hostile to the point where we just wanted it to end.
We signed a contract on May 13th, 2020 with Canadian Pro Interlocking. The scope was simply the front of the house minus the driveway and a side walkway. All the stone was ordered per Joe’s instructions. The total for the contract was $14,400 out of which we ordered the stone for $5,362 leaving $9,038 in labor plus additional material if needed which were to be paid for and ordered by Joe. The payments are designed so that Joe has more than 90% of his money within the first few visits. We paid $1355 (15%) when we signed the contract in cash. He then showed up 3 more times (May 25th, 28th and June 1st) to demolish our existing concrete staircase and prep the sidewalk for stones. He did all this very efficiently and as promised received 40% ($3615) of his payment. That was the last day we saw him until Oct 5th. Between June 1st and Oct 5th, I sent hundreds of messages and called many many times. The calls were never answered. The messages were answered after 2 or 3 days or weeks. There were promises of showing up next day, on the weekend, or next week that were never kept. He told me that he has 365 days to complete my job after telling me in writing that he will finish it before labor day. He threatened me with a lawsuit because of Covid and how I was pestering him to finish the job. We had a discussion about Covid in May while we were signing the contract outside and he told me that since they work outside, this is not going to be an issue at all. During this time, I had to put some makeshift stairs just for my family to get in and out of the house.
We finally had enough and told him that he either shows up or we will legal action. My wife even got in touch with one of the law firms in Kitchener to pursue the lawsuit. We were informed that he already has one active lawsuit against him, and another inquiry to start a lawsuit. We were shocked to say the least. He then showed up on Oct 5th and told us that he can finish the job but there will be no digging with the machine and we will have to get rid of the concrete ourself. In addition, we will have to pay for all the additional material such as bedding and polymeric sand. We had no choice but to continue with this because we were already out thousands of dollars at this time.
Once his guys were finished digging the sidewalk, he demanded the 40% per the contract. I pointed out that he hasn’t kept a single one of his promises, but he flat out told me to sue him. At this point, we let it go paid him and rented a bin from a disposal service out of our own pocket and ordered all the other material. He then continued to show up once every 2 to 3 weeks and finished the job on Dec 11th. Before finishing the job, he demanded that we leave him a 5 star review. We said no and told him to either finish it or we will leave a 1 star review.
The sidewalk has no grading and the water from the melted snow in Dec started piling up near our basement window. The corner and edge stones are already moving if you walk on them (we don’t, it’s winter). The front stones are not moving, but the stairs are completely different height making it very awkward to climb. The sand is everywhere because it never dried properly due to the snow that we got in Nov. We will now hire someone to fix the sidewalk and to find a solution for our stairs.
I would consider myself very fortunate if I can help even one person by writing this review. Please please please do your research, read the Ontario guidelines about dealing with contractors and hire a reputable company.

Lost $11,000 and have a destroyed backyard

The most important thing to keep in mind while reading this review is that the quality of work provided by Joe and Canadian Pro Interlocking is abysmal. They dID not use any machines for digging. They did not get rid of any materials using bins. They did not know how to lay the stone properly. They do not do any edging and your stones will start moving the minute they are laid down. They do not own any vehicles and will show up in UHAUL van to your house. I have lost a total of $11,000 which does not include me paying someone to fix the disaster this company has created in my backyard. This is just the money he owes me because he never finished the work.

Red Flags:
1. Business address provided on the contract is the address of the Shoppers Drugmart in Brampton and not a legitimate office.
2. Business address provide on BBB is not recognizable by Google Maps.
3. Drives a rental UHaul truck instead of a company vehicle.
4. Demands that all money be given upfront and will not pay for any materials.

Please read this review in entirety if you want to save your family years of torture and financial catastrophe.

We signed the contract on July 21st 2019 with Canadian Pro Interlocking. The project was divided into two phases. Phase I was $22,000 for the backyard and Phase II was $12,000 for the front. The backyard took over 400 days to finish. The front yard was never finished. Joe promised to refund the remaining amount but has refused to do so for the past 6 months.
Deadline Number 1 given: 1 week. Verbal deadline.
Deadline Number 2 given: September 25th, 2019 in writing
Deadline Number 3 given: May 31st 2020
More deadlines were provided but never met.
Number of Messages communicated: Thousands (all screenshots available)
Number of Phone Calls made: hundreds (all screenshots available)
Number of Phone Calls answered: Only when there’s a payment to be received.

The contract was to lay stones in the backyard and the front of the house. It also included demolishing the concrete we have in the front yard. Joe showed up about 5 times, did work for about 3 to 4 hours at a time and laid some stone in the backyard. What I did not understand at the time was he was only coming to get the money from me. He took 93% of the cost upfront during those 5 visits because that is how the contract is designed. I also paid $7200 for the stone out of my own pocket. He does not pay for the material because someone did not pay him for some material in the past. He did say that he will pay if any extra material is needed. Joe was recommended by someone I thought I could trust. Turns out he only gave the reference because Joe promised him some free work. Once Joe had all the money he simply disappeared. He promised repeatedly that he will show up but to no avail.

The stone sat on our front lawn for 5 months destroying our grass. It was in December that I moved all the stone in the backyard. He joked about me building muscles by moving all that stone. In addition, the skids that came for the stone are still sitting in my garage. I had to move everything to the backyard because people driving by thought that it was there for the taking and I caught two before they took off with it.
There was complete radio silence until 1 message in January telling me that he will start the work as soon as possible. May came and according to the law, the home projects already in progress were to be finished and COVID 19 had no impact on it. He came over on May 12th, spent 15 minutes measuring the backyard (although it’s not clear why that had to be done because he had already taken the measurements at the beginning of the project) and promised me that he will order the additional materials which per the contract had to be payed for by him. He then told me multiple times that he will have the stones delivered. After reminding him again about the legal action and reviews, he delivered $900 worth of material. $4000 worth of material was needed to get the job finished. On May 25th, I sat with a completely destroyed backyard and no end in site from this nightmare company.

I then told Joe that I will have to take legal action and post reviews for this business. I had to do this about 10 times and each time his people showed up for 1 to 3 hours every 3 to 4 weeks to a little bit of work. The back yard was finally finished in October of 2020. Please keep in mind that the work began in July of 2019. They also put in wet polymeric sand and all the stones moved within a month. I then told them about taking legal action. They still did not fix the issue, only added new sand on the top and half my stones have old wet polymeric sand in them.
He will not answer his phone when you call him. He will go on complete radio silence for days and will not reply to any of your messages. He is quick to anger and will threaten you with a lawsuit if you demand that he completes the work that he promised. He told me that he doesn’t care about my review ( in writing). That by the time, I leave one review, he would have other positive reviews left on the site by other people (real or fake, I do not know) and it would be too late.

According to him he has 365 days to complete the work. In Ontario law, work must be finished within 30 days of a deadline given. He has breached the contract he touts multiple times.

I will bring legal action against him because I have no other option left to recuperate $11,350. Please save yourself heartache and months of misery and tension and hire someone who is honest and reliable.

Exceptional results

During this very difficult time, service provided by Joe's company and his team, could be facing many obstacles. But we were very fortunate to have a chance dealing with them. Harris done estimate and offer many suggestions of design to pick from, convinced us, that we can relay on the team. We've to delay work because of raining days, but constant communication with Joe kept us well informed, so team could start as we planned. During pavers installation, we were satisfied with their work but also with additional, agreed improvements. We would like highly recommend Joe with his teams. They work is reliable, professional, with high quality. Final view is just exceptional !!!

Joe and his team were great to deal with. Service, communication and friendliness is rare these days but Joe and his team were always pleasant. Harris was no different. Their quality of work is high, and took the time to ensure the job is done right and to our liking.
Thanks all and we look forward to enjoying our new interlocking.

Interlocking done well.

I received quotation from 3 other companies and quotation provided by Harris was very reasonalble. The work was to do interlocking in the front of the house. The material was delivered prior to the start of work. The work started on agreed upon date. The crew worked the whole day and finished the work. At the end they cleaned up the area before they left.
The work was professionally done from start to end. The job was well done. It has been a year now.

Interlocking Front and Backyard Patio Extension

Joe and his team Taras, Serg and Ali were friendly, talented and amazing in designing and performing the work professionally at the front and in the backyard.

Joe and his team discussed, explained the process steps for artistic & creative design with stones cuts to enhance the existing round flower bed and house construction.

Harris with his background in design came up with an honest quote that explained the work in details. Also, he carried in his truck some samples in addition to the catalogue.
