Trusted Handy Guy

DO NOT use Trusted Handy Guy for your renovation project. You will not be satisfied and it will take much longer than promised. We spent a lot of money on a bathroom reno. Reno looks good on the surface, but actually substandard materials, substandard workmanship and Garrett, the owner, does not care to take care of these issues. I would never recommend this individual or company to anyone. SAVE YOUR MONEY, choose someone you can depend on and trust...this is NOT that person/company!

I am slightly torn here because the owner is quite personable and has great suggestions but, the work in some cases especially carpentry is very low skill. I had him hang two interior doors and he didn't even notch out the door for the hinges. He opted instead to place the hinges on the surface and cut the rest of the door to fit. I asked him to quote on a retaining wall behind my property in Hamilton and twice he said "I'll look at this today" and I heard nothing back from him. I had him do a bathroom and he moved on to another job leaving the pipe for the shower head floating in the wall and when the water was turned on part of the faucet flew into the tub. When I asked him to come back and fix it he said that he was working on another job. I discovered that once he receives payment he considers the job finished and moves on. After some vigorous prodding he managed to come back and finish the job but after some research I discovered that he had another company called the Hemel Group that had some serious and plentiful complaints just google it. Many of the complaints had to do with that very issue of not finishing the job after receiving payment. I recommend you not use this company but if you do keep your 10% until the job is finished to your satisfaction.
